All my life I'd only ever had $100 laptops handed down by my mom, so when I was 19 and had disposable income I decided I'd build a gaming PC. I didn't know anything about computers, and this PC ended up being trash due to its CPU. Fallout 4 got constant stuttering, which was disappointing since that was the main reason I built the PC. Although, it did work perfectly for music production and photoshop. I sold it to an old roommate for $600 before I moved out in January, and I've become an IT student since then and am going to build a good version in a couple months.

Part Reviews

Great budget productivity CPU, used it for music production and it was flawless. However, I tried running Fallout 4 and got constant stutter every few seconds, regardless of the game settings or where I was in the game. I never found out if this was due to the processor (although no other part seems likely to cause the problem) so I won't take any stars off.

Great low cost motherboard, plenty of connections and never caused problems for me.

Fast, reliable, and cheap.

Video Card

Handled everything I threw at it. No problems with overclocking or heat. Sagged a little in my build.

My favorite case of all time for cosmetics, horrible for cable management.

Wireless Network Adapter

Sometimes the adapter would freeze my entire system for 10-20 seconds. Other than that, worked great.

Amazing monitor, would buy it again.

Love this keyboard, going to buy it again when I build my next system.

Not bashing, but why didn't you go with a 960 4gb? They are identical in price.

I actually don't remember what GPU I got aside from the fact it was an EVGA 960, so it's possible it was the 4gb model. Nice profile picture btw

That's a rough situation. Next you'll probably be better off with intel. (Zen remarks incoming)

Most definitely. This is what I've got planned for the next go around: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/xdTQzM

Nice looking new build but if you are not doing photoshop or any editing you do not really need a i7 but I assume you are.

I got the i7 for photoshop and DAW work

Hmm I haven't had any stuttering issues on a fx 8320, I even played that game with a 955 be clocked at 4.3 ghz that didn't stutter, gpu drivers are pretty big culprits as well as you loading up all the eye candy with ultra settings on 2gb of ram if that's what you really had. I mean it could have been a million things but your cpu wasn't it ;) That being said if you are building a new comp Amd is a waste of money cpu wise unless you go eBay shopping then it's a heck of a deal!

woofwoofbro submitter 2 Builds 1 point 32 months ago

I tried the game on full ultra and on minimal settings, tweaking the .ini to fully disable shadows and it had no difference in performance, in the end who knows what the problem was

Jhobbster 1 Build 2 points 32 months ago

It makes me cri to hear you call the 8320 trash when im using an fx 6300... And it runs fallout 4 ultra just fine, its the games old engine that is unoptimized that causes the stuttering and frame drops.

woofwoofbro submitter 2 Builds 1 point 32 months ago

Sorry for that haha

detenator 1 point 32 months ago

The issue probably just the CPU. I had a FX-9590 that had similar problems, but I accidentally ripped it out of socket and broke a pin so I got an i5 instead. Haven't had stuttering since.

That's what I was thinking and what other people have been saying. At least now I know what to avoid

"garbage" was definitely an exaggeration on my part, the CPU itself was really good, I was just annoyed that I blew $150 on something that made it impossible to play Fallout 4.

You know what also sucks? The fact that the 1080 is 700$ When you could get two Rx 480s for 400 dollars and get the same performance #YourAnNvidiaFanboy
