Description

OverKill 2.0 "If it ain't broke don't fix it." words to live by.

This is an update of my previous build. Added the new EVGA 1080Ti's, fortunately for me it cost me nothing as EVGA was kind enough to RMA my cards out as I had issues. No one can complain about the customer service from EVGA.

I got very lucky with the case on E-bay and ended up picking it up for a steal of a deal. I paid £72 for the case plus shipping. Not bad when the case is supposed to be around twice the price. Also, anyone looking to get this case for an E-ATX board (272mm) you should be fine, it does cover some of the grommets but there is enough space to pass the power cable through.

I know that the hard drives could probably be upgraded but I just use them purely for storing photos. So I plan to replace them soon enough.

If you have any questions about the build please ask away. I would appreciate any recommendations as well always room to learn more and improve.

I'll add more photos later on today.

inb4 bottleneck coments.

V13G45 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 18 months ago

I don't think there are bottlenecks but I could be wrong.

BlueSonata 2 points 18 months ago

There are always bottlenecks. It just depends on how hard you push your system. Either your cpu or gpu will reach a bottleneck.

My guess is your cpu since the ram that you have goes to 2400 stock. I don't know how much you can overclock that memory to but that's gonna be a problem.

Bottlenecks are dependent on workload, and are also partly what you make of them - the system's not bottlenecking if its performance is good enough for you. All depends on what you're doing with the computer.

I suppose this is true, I am waiting on receiving the 2k monitor so should be able to test the graphics a bit more when it arrives.

Ti's in sli... Living the dream!!!

V13G45 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 18 months ago

I am indeed, just waiting on the 2k monitor to arrive.

U have one 1080 ti and it is indeed the best thing to happen to pc's in a while... Can't imagine 2!! Enjoy for years to come

V13G45 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 18 months ago

Thanks, Now all i need is a bit more time in the day to make use of them.

customgtp 23 Builds 1 point 18 months ago

You'll have years to come to game!! Try out a game called the Observer in 4k when you can. It was a really good 4k experience for me and interesting game too. Enjoy that boss build

hallothere 1 point 18 months ago

But wait, the gtx titan x's are apparently a thing now(12 gigs of ram, 1.13 gigahertz in standard)vNot to say this build isnt awesome. The thing is amazing. But imagine 3 titan x's(or 1080s) in sli. You will be set for at least a decade

V13G45 submitter 2 Builds 2 points 18 months ago

I used to have the old ones they were good till I got these 2 puppies, I think Nvidia has said that they will no longer be supporting 3 or 4 cards SLI. It's a real shame if you ask me.

hallothere 1 point 18 months ago

Aye, i agree

sammys87gnxgta4 1 Build 1 point 18 months ago

I really do like the idea of two 1080 Ti's in SLI, but theres some games that dont support SLI which absolutely sucks for builds like these that are really awesome with two way SLi but they cant play some of those games, which is just terrible.

but this build is really awesome, you got something really nice going on here!

V13G45 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 18 months ago

Yeah its a bit of a shame, I can see it in games like PUBG that SLI is awful soon as I switch to a single card on the ultra-wide I get around 140+ fps.

ReapMeUpDaddy 1 point 18 months ago

Great build, +1. Not sure why everyone is acting like its the first 1080 ti SLI they've ever seen lol

Hiya,

I have the same MB & CPU build (https://pcpartpicker.com/b/HKgscf) and am thinking of upgrading my failing EVGA GTX 670 with a single EVGA GTX 1080 Ti. I have a few questions for you, if you would be so kind:

  1. Will it be worth upgrading this old system with a GTX 1080 Ti in terms of a substantial performance boost, or should I just build a new system?

  2. I haven't overclocked my system till now...I know I built it for o'cing...but never managed the time. However, I would like to start and since I see that you have your CPU at 4.7 GHz, would you mind giving me a few pointers so that I may achieve the same results, given we have the same platform. To be honest, I don't know the A of overclocking.

Cheers, Sid

V13G45 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 12 months ago

Hey Sid,

Sorry for the late reply, not been on PCPP for some time now been carried away with work and some projects at home. Regarding getting a 1080Ti you should be fine no bottleneck at all can confirm. The CPU is rock solid, I think the new 8700K is comparable to the 3930K. Personally, i have had no issues with the 1080 ti configuration.

With regards to overclocking, I am happy to help where I can, let me know if you still need some help.

regards,

Brezney
