Everything Matte Black

Before, I had brashly purchased the NZXT H500 in matte black / red not thinking about whether I'd always like the color red in my system in the future or not. Additionally, I purchased a motherboard in which had permanent red lights installed, and permanently painted on red accents.

Therefore, I recently decided to turn the whole thing matte black, as Marques Brownlee would say: "Everything Matte Black". I used electrical tape cut precisely with a razor in order to cover up the motherboards accents, and carefully painted other components such as a number of GPU accents completely black. Moreover, I contacted NZXT and placed an order for a new black pump bracket to replace my old red one, and received it fast and free of charge under my warranty.

Furthermore, I also added in 2 sticks of the same RAM, maxing out my dual channel DIMM slots with 4 sticks of 8 GB DRAM. I now have 32 GB RAM and have noted the 5 FPS boost across select titles. It's funny though, because I usually don't have more than one tab open in chrome.

Lastly, I've recently been able to get my i7-8700K to clock in stably at 5.1GHz, and changed the Kraken's colors to an RGB spectrum. Full matte black also looks good though. I commonly switch between the two.

It's fantastic. I'm running a 3440 x 1440 120 Hz monitor, and the RTX 2080 maxes that refresh rate out in quite a few AAA titles.

I mean it's basically a 1080 Ti with RTX "improvements" so that makes sense

Of course, the rtx 2080 and the gtx 1080 ti can even support 4k an they get 60 frames, scaling down would increase framerate A LOT since I'm pretty sure 4K isn't really that optimized for PC yet.

The 8700k doesn't support quad channel ram. You mean 2 x dual channel. But anyway, nice PC build and hope you enjoy it!

Hey. Curious, what is the "new black pump bracket" you ordered from NZXT? Do you mind linking me?

You'd have to contact NZXT support, inform them of the piece you want, and send them a screenshot of your receipt for the case you bought. In my particular case, (pun not intended) I additionally sent them a photo of the red and black NZXT H500 circling the pump bracket with a yellow pen in Photoshop. I then added text to the image stating "This piece but in black". NZXT support then got the part ordered and shipped to me within 1-2 weeks.

Cool build man. You really went with the matte black color. Maybe the name of the pc should be black hole or something? Sounds cool and related!

Did you build it yourself? Or is it a prebuilt one? If so what is the name?

The desk is an IKEA Linnmon, the legs are the IKEA Adils. It's extraordinarily easy to assemble yourself.

I like the Alienware stand. It makes the monitor stand out, and you pay for that solid metal construction.

An ergonomic gaming chair is a bad investment. Spread the word!!

I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of choices and opinions when I went looking for a new chair, and my budget restricted my options even more. Therefore, I decided to jump on this chair, and it by far wasn't a bad choice compared to my old one.
