Description

Hi guys, just wanted to show off my first major upgrade (fourth gen processor and motherboard). A lot of you guys enjoyed my previous build : https://pcpartpicker.com/b/O5M and was hoping you will enjoy this one just as much :) This time I focused more on the cable management aspect of the case, so I went with the Gigabyte GA-H87N It fits everything well with the Sata ports, 24 pin connector, and USB 3.0 all on the right side of the case. The BitFenix prodigy is still one of my favorite cases even after playing around with it for a few months. Enjoy!

edit: I cut a top window panel for the top of the case in replacement for the mesh since I wasn't using the top fans. Also I just want to show off the cable management/motherboard :)

I used a hacksaw to cut the plexiglas (not recommended) and sanded the edges with 60 and 200 grit sandpaper for the curved edges and straight sides

Enjoy!

I don't even have words for the cable management. +42 if I could.

Things like this set the standard for cable management. If someone can have great cable management in am M-ITX build, then someone with a Corsair 750D better have great cable management.

Also, great build! +1

Probably the best cable management I've ever seen in a BitPenix Prodigy, with a non-modular PSU to boot. Glad you didn't go overboard and jump for a z87 board/unlocked chip, as it's not really required for a gaming build.

+1 for the cleanest Prodigy. Game on.

What was your old CPU? Was it bottlenecking your GPU?

It was a 3rd gen i3 I took it from another pc that was just upgraded to i7 and after a while I realized I can get more from my pc

This is a definite upgrade form an i3. Unsure if 3rd gen i3 has HT, giving it 4 threads, but 4 physical cores are always better than two physical and two threads.

Do you have to take off the top 5.25 bay to mount the graphics card?

  • 1 point

The card itself fits with the 5.25 bay but for this card the power cables plug in from the top which might cause issues with cable management
