Description

My old PC died on me and I found it as an excuse to go back to AMD.

The Scythe Ninja 5 actually does a relatively good job of cooling the 3900X compared to the stock cooler. I know I could possibly be cooling it more but I like how it looks with the Q300L case.

CPU Idle: 39c CPU Load: 79c GPU Idle: 34c GPU Load: 69c

Down the line, I'm definitely going to get a better PSU (Which is on it's way from EVGA as I'm typing this, but it's just an Evga Supernova P2 850), Motherboard and Case.

The reason I have this mobo and case still was because I initially started with a budget build of a Ryzen 2700 and a 1660Ti. Lol.

Yeah, the motherboard and case are a much needed upgrade, other than that, it looks pretty good!

Thank you! I started out with a fairly budget build when I got the mobo and case a month ago, lol. I originally started with the Ryzen 2700 and 1660Ti for the GPU hence why I still have this mobo and case. :)

Looks Great! But is the Hard drive supposed to cost 200? I can get a 2tb 5400rpm hard drive for about 70

Hi! Thank you! I actually can’t find my hard drive and I’m new to pcp so didn’t know how to add my own, I actually have an old 2TB Hybrid from an Alienware my wife had for a while until that system died.

Just scroll down to "add custom part" and then manually create a part

The motherboard definitely needs an upgrade its power phase design isn't built to handle such a high end CPU, if you want an easy AMD motherboard guide use this . i would suggest getting the ASROCK X570M PRO4 MATX , ASROCK B450M STEELLEGEND MATX , or MSI B450M GAMING PLUS MATX

The masterbox q300l and q500l are horrible cases that have terrible airflow and trap alot of heat in the case. Because of your high end components id suggest changing the case asap. you're putting them in an oven this is a reference review

For the case i would recommend the Fractal design meshify c mini tower , Phantex Enthoo evolve matx or alternatively waiting for the lianli 0-11 dynamic mini to be released its a itx sized case that is modular and can be reconfigured to fit atx, matx, and of course itx motherboards

Thank you for the suggestions!

I definitely need to look at case reviews first before I get them. Lol. I, for some reason, went with the Q300L before looking at reviews of it and I do regret getting it so when I’m using it for extended periods, I do remove the so called filters and side panel to help a little bit. I did see the new 0-11 Dynamic and I’m interested in it and will most likely hold out until it’s available. As soon as I get a better case, I’ll also most likely end up with either another Gigabyte X570 or the Strix version.

the higher end gigabyte x570 boards are all great boards GamersNexus rate them pretty high i personally only use msi and asus boards in the builds i do for other people because they have user friendly bios

Hi, thank you! I’ve always just preferred gigabyte for Mobos but I’ll def look into MSI and Asus ones! :) I’ve actually already kinda set my eyes on the X570 Strix. :)

Interesting build. The CPU and GPU are good, but the rest of the components need upgrading.

For better cooling performnce, get Scythe Fuma 2. Undervolt the CPU to 1.2-1.312V and lock the frequency at 4.2-4.4GHz.

Cheers.

Hi! Thank you! I was actually really considering the Fuma 2 over the Ninja 5 but my vanity got the best of me and went with the bigger one. Lol.

Yeah, I started this build thinking it’ll be a budget one and had the Ryzen 2700 and 1660TI at first but since then I’ve went to get the 3900x and 2070S THEN 2080S instead.

I’m definitely just looking for a good mitx or matx board to be able to fit into this case still, but if not I’ll eventually get another case as well. :)

In actually new to undervolting, I guess l I’ll have to YouTube it to figure that out, thanks!

Great build, and good upgrades. some upgrades I'd suggest are

Add more RAM for dual channel performance

Upgrade motherboard to X570 with good VRMS

Change case to Phanteks P400a prefereably or Fractal Design Meshify C.

Thank you!

I actually have two sticks, I probably just messed up during building it on the site. Lol.

I have been thinking of getting an X570 soon with a case to match it, I'm not opposed to going full ATX as well. Lol

Oh if you have dual channel then you're golden. I dunno about Full ATX, those are pretty gigantic. Up to you though! :)

Hi where is your ram? I’m eyeing that cooler but my ram sticks are pretty tall at 53mm.

Hi, it’s underneath the right side of the cooler. :) I have Corsair’s Vengeance LPX, so it’s a little bit on the low profile side
