Description

This was my first PC build and its meant completely for gaming. I Went with the Athlon because it is cheaper than almost all other gaming quad cores and still gives me a good enough upgrade path into the A10 line. The mobo and CPU Cooler came in a combo from Newegg for $40. The hard drive is super fast and gives me 15-20 second boot times and loads games very quickly. I chose the 370 because it has a great price for the performance it gives, has the 4gb of VRAM I need for GTA, and was on sale for 150$. The PSU I cheaped out on a little but it still powers the system and thats all I need. The case was the only thing that gave me some trouble as some of the connectors were cheap plastic and one of the top usb ports was defective. Still a very pretty case though, especially in the dark.

BenchMarks.

GTA V (ultra 1080p) -Average Framerate: 39.62

Metro:Last Light Redux (ultra 1080p)- Average Framerate: 37.00

Sorry for the crap pictures! I have an older phone.

if what i hear is to be correct, the FM2+ socket is being replaced by the upcoming AM4 socket for the next iteration of desktop APUs, so if any later upgrade was considered the best that could happen on that board is an A10-7850K, which only adds another GPU. that being said, an 860K is an excellent starter CPU for basic gaming, and with newer graphics technologies an upgrade to a 7850K would be more worthwhile.

i can't really grade on overall build quality, considering the supplied pictures, but on paper it looks like it'll be a good little mid-level gaming system. get an SSD for it and it'll probably feel even faster!

Exactly my thoughts, even if the best would be the A10-7870K :P (yes, I wanted to point it out)

What OS you're running? And what is your opinion of this case (http://www.fractal-design.com/home/product/cases/core-series/core-1000-usb-30) over your case?

Oh, and nice rationale btw +1

Im running Windows 7 and it runs really well. Will probably upgrade to 10 sometime soon though. To be honest I would still choose my case over that one because of it comes with 6 fans ( 5 are leds), a fan controller, bottom mounted PSU and has good, large room for cable management.

Priority: computer > phone. Too bad for the pictures! get that ssd before the phone (that's what I would do)

PLEASE HELP - I just completed a build using the same processor and mobo and also got the cooler with the mobo from newegg. For the life of me I can not get the cooler to properly mount to the motherboard. Could you send me a picture of how it connects? Did you have any difficulty putting on the cooler?

GTA uses around 3 during gameplay so im happy with what I got. Also at the time I got the 370 the 380 and the 960 were around $180 and I only had $150 towards a GPU.

GTA is known for using more RAM (both VRAM and system RAM) than it actually needs.

for 30 more dollars you could've gotten much better preformance

Yup, and for X more dollars you could've gotten much much better performance too... lol

No offense, but that's simply a "You don't say"

why its just 30 dollars not like its 100 or something lol

i see what you mean but i dont think it would be that hard to save a little more

Everyone already knows that. Once you get the $30 upgrade, it's only $30 more for a better GPU. You would never be happy once you get the one you want. Just accept that some people don't want to run ultra settings on gta v at 120 fps because it's not necessary.

He just said he didn't have enough money at the time. And if he's happy with what he's got, you don't need to continuously tell him he made the wrong decision.
