Description

This isn't a full completed build yet, Just need to add a second 20" monitor and a GPU. Considering the Asus R9 270X or the Asus GeForce GTX 660. Still can use it for everyday stuff, nothing too labour intensive yet though. This would be my first build in years. Just got fed up with the HP pavillion a250n( nearly 10 years old). Temp 23.0c (idle) . The case looks so empty without the GPU, also please excuse the artwork on the wall, its the misses,The second monitor will be going underneath that. The mouse / keyboard set is the Logitech MX5000 bluetooth. Need to get to work on some more cable management.

Thanks for all the comments, more than likely ill go for the Asus 270. Then next to grab another monitor, and want to get a 2 monitor mount, think they start from $60+ . At the moment i have it dual'd with my LG 47" 3DTV lol, works well.

I managed to get the Z87-a for $94.00. It was $124.00 with a $30.00 mail in rebate,so for that price i couldnt pass it up. Overall i managed to get $70.00 in rebates $30 for the board and $20.00 rebates for the case and the CPU

Ok, just thought that was a little much. Also, I would recommend a Nvidia GPU for Intel cards.

Nice build! You could have probably gone for a cheaper motherboard, depending on your budget. Otherwise, this is a great build.

The 270X is literally a 270 binned with a higher clock speed and has 2 PCI-e connectors instead of 1. So, if you get an AMD card, get the 270.

The 270 will slightly outperform the 660, however the 660 has all of Nvidia's GeForce Experience stuff and other things like G-Sync, LightBoost, Shadowplay, GameStream, better drivers, etc.

It depends on what you want to play with it. Generally, the 270 will outperform the 660, though only just, and is also a bit cheaper on average.

If you want to play BF4, the 270 is the obvious choice, with Mantle hopefully coming out Soon(TM).

The Asus cooler is amazing, as many will attest, so you will be getting a great deal either way.

Right, well that's my paragraph for the day. ggkthxbye.

edit: I've just read about AMD's FreeSync, which supposedly does what G-Sync does, although there are some limitations I'm not exactly clear on. Meh, just do some research.

Well AMD also has Predatr and Gaming Evolved and if you get the Asus 270 you have a twitch streaming app and a GPU tuner. If you overclock a 270 it performs the same as a 760. (At least at 1920x1080) I have an overclocked 7870 and it performs almost identically.
