Description

So yeah, the name,

I thought of it 30 seconds before posting this. It was the last part of this build to come together. I built this PC at the beginning of summer. It originally had an r9 280x, which I sold on release of the 900 series, and I upgraded to the 290x.

The 290x is a beast, a beast controlled by a kraken g10, hooked up to an h55. This lets my pc be whisper quiet when gaming, providing I can tolerate higher temps. If I have my fans at the quiet preset, it reaches 65, which is a bit high for my tastes, but if I let the fans become audible, it cools right down. I also figured, I should probably support this beast, so I used some black legos. They keep it from sagging, and do not interfere with cooling.

The storage is probably a question you guys have. I chose two ssds because I can devote one to each OS. One to Windows 8.1 for gaming, and one to Ubuntu Gnome, for normal usage and messing around.

I really love the mouse. It is larger than the one that came with the MK120, and fits my hand really perfectly for my mixed claw and palm grip.

The keyboard is nice, with mx browns, and I got it at a price that could not be beat. I chose browns because I do a lot of typing, and wanted something quieter than blues.

I had the dvd drive lying around, so I just stuck it in, still looking for a use for it after all this time. So yeah, dvd drives are VERY unnecessary.

The color matching was a real bonus, and what led to the name. I was amazed how well the RAM matched the Mobo heatsinks.

Now for the name breakdown, that I thought of while writing this.

So the gold is obvious as in the color scheme, but gold can also be seen of as a symbol of greed, much like me with games after building this rig. The apple was harder to think of, but I can stretch it to a biblical reference. This rig, much like the tempting apple, tempted me away from schoolwork.

This rig is my kryptonite. A beautiful kryptonite.

That's all I could think of at the time, but then, thanks to my skills in high school English, I pulled it together in some sappy figurative meaning.

the legos are cool but i dont get the gpu cooler or the ssds...i feel that you could have saved money by not getting the gpu cooler and buying 1 500gb ssd and partitioning it (which would have gave you more flexibility too) and got a k series chip like the 4690k

but the legos are still cool
