I feel that an AMD APU would have been a better option for this build

I thought about an AMD but I have never used AMD on any of my builds. I usually use parts that I have been more familiar with all my builds. I will consider this option in the future. Thanks.

Not a problem I completely understand

I myself haven't used AMD as I've really only built one computer just two versions of it haha

I just feel that the AMD APU option would have been a bit less costly (ie more performance per dollar)

Aside from swapping out your ram for something much cheaper (around 55 bucks for 8 gigs of 1600mhz ram), and your video card with a GDDR5 6670 for the same price, it's not bad at all. Considering this is a "racher's" computer it's possible that you might not exactly have much variety in the area you live. You balanced it fairly well aside from your video card. +1

Intel's built in graphics are slightly faster than the GT 520, so unless they are using it to add monitors, then it would be better off without. Personally, for the use and budget I would have gone with an AMD apu instead of Intel to save some coin.

Would have gone with an APU and kept that price down.
