Description

This is my first build ever, and it's the first time I've ever worked with computers internally. Always been interested in building but never got around to it until now.

I use it mostly for gaming and simple tasks like web browsing, movies, and music....so it's essentially an HTPC with a focus on gaming.

This thing has been runnin like a dream. The case fans work really well at keeping everything cool, even with BF3 almost maxed out. Never seen temps over 40 degrees celsius. The fans can hum a bit on medium and high, but nothin that would make you upset.

My GTX 660 performs surprisingly well with everything I've thrown at it, and I haven't even gotten around to overclocking it. Only thing I can't really run on max is Metro: LL, although I believe with some OC doctoring I could get darn close to it while maintaining a pretty good frame rate.

No problems as of yet! Everything works like a dream, and I'm loving every bit of this build!

Defiantly OC your 660! If you plan on OC'ing your CPU, I wouldn't go farther than 4.1-4.2ghz, with the 212 EVO.

Great build for its price considering screen and OS are included. For the same price you could have got a used 660ti which could have been a bit better. Is that the price you paid for the RAM though ? I would have got a kit at 60 (on specials) and put that money toward a better PSU. Also, the Gigabyte UD3 or the Extreme4 from Asrock would have been better boards with better OC possibilies around the same price range. Good cable management for a first and nice overall ! Congrats

This actually does not reflect the prices I paid. I actually paid somewhere around $1230 for everything, including a keyboard that isn't listed here. Crazy good deal huh? The RAM was a bit cheaper back then. Also, I wanted everything brand new for my first build. The cheapest option for a 660ti at the time was a reference PNY version that had a weak fan that caused it to get hot, and it also had minimal gains over the MSI factory OC'd model I got. The twin fans keep it super cool even when it's OC'd and it's very reliable. The more reliable 660ti's were out of price range. And I know, I know...people say to stay away from Corsair PSU's. But, this is not so true with the "M" series from Corsair. A lot more reliable, and I've seen a lot of good reviews on them from reliable sources, so I went with it (only like 60 at the time) and it's been great. As far as the MOBO, I really battled as to what to get. I saw too many negative reviews on the Extreme4 so I ruled that out and the reviews on the UD3H and the P8Z77-LK resulted in a stalemate as to which was better (according to official and user reviews) with the UD3H only gaining some slightly better scores in OC'ing capability...so, I went with the cheaper one at the time, plus it's blue! :D Thanks for the feedback!

You could add the keyboard as a custom part and adjust the prices ;). But yeah, good deal ! Didn't know how long ago did you build this, I was referring to actual prices. Thanks for your answer ! And yeah, the motherboard is still good, no worries I was just wondering

Got all the prices reflecting what they were at the time of purchase! Thanks again for the feedback. It was a lot of fun building and learning.

Great build, especially for first timer, and nice parts selection too, very well balanced. I have same motherboard and RAM and I'm getting the same video card soon as well.

Love the gunmetal case!
