This is primarily for gaming. I have never owned a PC and have been a Mac and console user since Atari 2600. I sold some of my consoles for this setup. I am so glad I did. What a huge difference in gaming! The build was mind boggling at first because the first GPU that was sent to me was DOA, and since it was my first build and first PC I had a hell of time troubleshooting and figuring it out! Other than that it was easy and it looks great!
I am using the NT-06 for the CPU, its overclocked at 4.4 GHZ, voltage at 1.235 it idles at 38 C on all four cores and goes up to 55 C during heavy gaming. I had to learn how to install windows, learn bios and and how to use overclocking tools as well as monitoring tools. Prime 95 I want to OC to 4.6 but the temps will go past 80C during stress testing if I do becuase the voltage is raised to 1.4 to be stable. I might go to the TD-03 Slim cooler and see if I can keep the temps down during stress testing if not, I am happy with this setup. The GPU is OC'ed and I am so close to touching 1500 MHZ using Unigine Heaven and MSI afterburner. The GPU stays under 60 C too.
I plan on building a few more using mitx cases, and a monster tower in the future. I spent two weeks researching, watching videos, learning what is what, and only 1 day building it. The parts took longer to get here than anything. The peripherals well I had none since I am been using mac books since 06, and have only been through 2 macs and they are both still running strong!
All in all I would highly recommend this setup for someone who has patience and is willing to put in the time to research exactly what works and what doesn't for your setup. If I can build this so can you for sure. I originally had my eyes setup for an alienware, but after more research I knew it wasn't for me, then I was going to purchase a pre-built, again I realized that pre-buit was not for me as they wanted more $$$ with less performance parts.
My next plan is to stuff a GTX 1080 in it. Not bad if I do say so myself for a first time builder and for my first PC. Oh the main reason I switched from console to PC was because of VR. Let me know what you guys think and if there is anything I can improve or do to make it better. Thanks. Oh one last thing I might switch to the SS 500 SFX PW SP because it has the bigger fan and flat cables as well to make installation easy.
Stable overclock at 1.235V in this small case with the NT-06.
Works great but this is my first one so I really dont know much about cooling except they are supposed to keep things cool, keeps my OC'ed i5 6600K in a mini itx at 38C idle.
Wow what can I say, glad I got this motherboard it works flawlessly for my setup.
Windows took a whole 11 seconds to install, I am impressed!
First card they sent was DOA, and you can not unlock the voltage unless you flash bios. Other than that its a solid card, almost at 1500 MHZ and average FPS 59.5 on Heaven! So I am taking its really good.
The best looking case to replace my gaming consoles!
Needs a bigger fan like the 500 series, does'nt make any sense.
Installed on my SSD was only 11 seconds from a USB, and I like windows 10!
I have read horror stories but I got lucky and this was a great buy for the price, gaming looks amazing on it!
Nice light up show, easy to configure, extremely durable solid construction! Keys are very clicky though.
This mouse has all the bells and whistles that I never knew existed, I am never turning back to another mouse!
