Description

This is a Custom Build for a client just starting out college and wants something cool looking but has a small budget.

This is an extreme low budget machine.

$500 Can't beat it for the looks imo.

Why the Corsair H60? Well where i live it gets extremely hot and humid. With this little APU its crucial that it has enough cooling...and since its hot here all year around its nice to have something silent once it starts to get hot.

Why the High Quality 1866 MHz ram? Well high quality for 1 and for 2 ram speeds+apu=better graphics...

Why the expensive case? Got to look cool to be cool... end of story! :)

Closed loop liquid coolers aren't much better compared to air cooling, also I think you should have tried to get higher mhz ram if you could.

I'm trying to build a pc and AMD is amazing but the processors often don't use more than 1866mhz speed on the ram. At least the new fx 8350 doesnt i dont know about this quad core.

The client had a small budget and $75 is about as cheap 1866MHz 8gb I could find. Thanks for the comment

Well, Customer's always right! You can't really say NO if he wants a certain component.

Yea even though its so hard not to go off and explain the whole novel to them why its better in the long run and all that other mumbo jumbo where he has no clue what I'm talking about its better just to say ok.. lol . He doesn't play much PC games. He says he a Xboxer 4life... Whatever the hell that means....

You could do better for this price but on the other hand it wouldn't have looked as good as this build so I'll let it slide.

I am looking for custom cables and I saw your link. This guy does look like he makes some really nice cables. But how exactly can I buy the cables in a bulk so I can get a discount?

  • 2 points

Not sure to be honest. Give the guy a email and ask him how.

Just thought I'd let you know that I ordered some cables through him and told him you referenced him to me! Can't wait to get them =)

Just curious, but how much did your client pay you to build this?

  • 2 points

I don't say how much I get the parts for but it was a total of $500 with everything. It also includes a wireless keyboard and mouse

  • 1 point

Take your lies elsewhere. The total is clearly $25.90 over the advertised price.

Sometimes, I wonder if people should just tell their clients that they are making crazy decisions. I don't get what the point of showing off a build is if it is a pretty weak build. It's basically an expensive HTPC. Build does look nice though.

  • 4 points

I'm pretty sure if you tell your client your making crazy decisions they would prob take their business somewhere else... And people have certain budgets and some prefer looks over performance if there not doing anything extreme. Thanks Tho

  • 1 point

Well, you know. Call them crazy with a little bit of tact. If I was on a budget, I would sacrifice a nicer looking case for that extra GPU or CPU performance. Probably would have gone with an athlon 750k, corsair 200r, and either a 7770, 7790 or 650ti boost. It probably wouldn't look that bad either because the 200R is a pretty nice looking case for the price. The only thing it would be missing is a window.

Master!! you are so wise! Pretty good. Sooo good looking! inside and outside. Performance is more than enough for that money. Congrats.

Actually ordered a similar computer yesterday, without the water tho; http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1QLOR

My plan is to upgrade later, but for now cheaper case and cpu cooling will do. I also wanted the system to be fairly portable, and hopefully somewhat quiet too.

The only thing I've been thinking about is whether I should have chosen different memory. It seems like the G.Skill Ares 2133MHz was made with Intel motherboards in mind. Any thoughts on this or am I over analyzing things?

Nice build! I'm hoping to build one similar for Christmas. I would've ditched the CD drive and the SSD and replaced it with a 500GB WD Caviar Black though. I like how you managed to get good looks with it too. Overall great job dude.

Benchmarks please? Also have you considered overclocking your CPU? This is pretty killer for 500$, but I always wonder if getting a discrete GPU is better.. hm...

Eeek!! No graphics card!!!
