This was my first PC build and was intended for use as a media server, photo and video editing, occasional gaming, and general lab use. This is overkill on all fronts from a RAM standpoint though I have pushed the processor to the edge without overclocking with general media clean up so far.
I used pcpartpicker.com exclusively during the part selection process and only ran into one issue and it stemmed around the video card and the case dimensions. Love the case but the original MSI video card selected was the slightest bit too wide for the case and had to return it for the EVGA model. This cost me a little more in the long run, but I got a better video card in the end. Second issue was the durability of the Corsair CPU cooler. The build was delayed to the RMA process. Probably my fault but the company made the process simple.
