Really anything you can think off. Still wondering if I should risk overclocking because I have no idea how.
Whats with the ram config?
Also on overclocking, the cpu would be a bit pointless, as the cooler wouldn't handle high clock speeds with that cpu. You would get maybe 4.0-4.3 ghz. More if you are really lucky, but that is unlikely.
The gpu is what you want to overclock for raw fps. Your psu is quite bad though. I wouldn't try much overclocking until you invest in a decent one.
A mini guide http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/evga_geforce_gtx_770_sc_review,23.html
I ordered just the 8 gb, but because I hold a large Minecraft server, I realized that if I'm going to do stuff while its on, I'm gonna need more Ram. Rather than sending back the existing ram, I chose to buy more with similar specs. Yea I know about the cooler. I didnt want to invest in a $100 cooler when I dont know if I'll ever use it you know? So I settled for the $15 one and if I change my mind, I dont loose money. And about the PSU, I dont know too much about that, what makes it bad? Is it the wattage? Or is it something else?
EDIT: is it a good idea to overclock with the stock GPU fan?
It's fine. Also, the ACX cooler isn't a stock fan. Nvidia doesn't let you increase voltage much, anyways, so temps shouldn't be too bad even with an overclock. Of course, you should always keep an eye on it.
Just don't increase the power target and clock speeds/memory speeds too fast. As for software, use Precision X from EVGA or MSI's Afterburner, they're both easy to use.
The stock acx gpu fan is very good. just don't go crazy. Small increments. the "guide" i linked is a start.
As for the psu, It is actually not that bad after actually checking a review. http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Rosewill-Green-Series-630-W-RG630-S12-Power-Supply-Review/881/10
I don't know if EVGA does anything similar, but my ASUS 770 has a feature where it starts to throttle the card if the temp hits 80*C. It's adjustable, but I'm not going to bother since I don't want to risk shortening the lifespan of my card. I don't remember what I got it up to before I started to hit that mark, but seeing as there aren't many games that require anything more than the stock settings, that's what I generally keep it at. Although with ASUS GPU Tweak, I have a second setting with a core clock of 1190Mhz and an effective memory clock of 7070Mhz for when I want a bit more (mainly Far Cry 3).
Nice overall high budget build. Would be nice to post some benchmarks and temps. And does playing on a mouse that costs more than your monitor actually help :P
Hahaha, ALL my friends make fun of me for it. I've always had a ****** laptop for as long as I can remember, (and I've had a computer since I was 5). ****** mouses that I found around the house or the regular trackpad were the norm for me. So I decided to spoil myself and get the best ******* mouse I could find. Not gonna lie. I ******* love it.
I have zero idea on where to get that info. If you could direct me I'd be VERY grateful!
what do you do for a living?, to make this build.
Like I said, first build. I'm only 17, my parents are doctors and we just moved into an apartment. In my defense I'm not allowed to have a job
Why aren't you allowed to have a job? Man, my parents practically forced me to work. I worked full-time summers starting a nine years old.
damn thats early, i got my first job when i was 14, summer hire for the gov
It wasn't anything special, just picking fruit (piecemeal) on a farm a couple clicks from my house. Mind you, I was foreman of said farm when I was 14. A lot of great stories came out of that job. I don't know if you know what a jitney (farm car) looks like, but picture an old 70's-80's station wagon, with nothing but the hood, frame, and front fenders (and the 5.7L V8). Now add a wooden plank flat-deck on the back. A buddy and I got pulled over by the cops while racing two of them. The speed limit was 80km/h and apparently we were doing about 150km/h (just over 90mph). We were 15 and didn't have licences. Only time I've ever had a cop laughing as he walked up to my car...
Nice room & build. You got a sweet PC right their while utilizing the same CPU, case, motherboard & video card that i plan on using for my very 1st PC build when i get the chance. I just want to ask you, how is the built in fan controller been for you if you are using that is?
