Description

This build was done primarily to replace my last build which was about six years ago. I was able to get just about everything on sale at one point or another along the way. Had no problems after assembly, plugged it in and worked perfectly. I have an old GeForce 7600 video card in there right now to make it usable. I'm not a gamer but I do plan to upgrade the card to a GTX660 (or something). The Thermaltake case comes stock with a bright blue accents which I couldn't stand, so I took apart the trim and painted them a satin color along with the bay hardware inside. I'm happy with how it turned out and it zips along with everything I use it for.

How did you paint the blue accents? I am thinking of choosing this case for a red/black build and want to paint the accents red.

Sorry for the delay - the bezel for each bay snaps out and can be disassembled. The blue accent can be completely removed, and painted. I have added photos showing the bezel out and disassembled.

Great Build, I really like the CPU Cooler. I might have to look into getting that.

Quick question tho, why do you have 4x 4GB Sticks of Ram and not 2x 8GB?

Also, Zalman makes the same cooler with a Red LED scheme...would match your build nicely.

I like your build it looks refined!!!! But,I have a few questions: 1. Hey dude do you think that i could get to 5ghz with the same board, cpu, and cpu cooler??? 2. And i wanted to know id your cpu cooler is quiet and what your temps are??? 3. And are you overclocked???

Thanks! If I remember correctly, I got the memory on sale for $84 or so. The 2x 8GB sticks were about 40 bucks more. I considered it, but didn't think I'd have a need for more than 16GB before I invested in another build.

I was under the impression 4x4 gives a slight performance increase in comparison to 8x2 - but my Googling now suggests this is wrong, and 4 sticks makes overclocking less reliable. Sadly my 4 sticks arrived last week... might have to return them before I do the build!... ARGH.

Did you have trouble with the front audio panel connection to the motherboard? I bought the same case and motherboard and mine wont reach at all...its about 3 inches to short lol.

I added two more pics to show how I got the connection there. I can't remember how it was when I unboxed the case, but I think I had to pull the front audio wire out where you see the purple arrow in the pic I added. Then with the PSU out, it can be stuck in the opening where you see the second arrow, and comes out with just enough length under the edge of the Mobo. I used heat shrink on the connection to clean it up - installed the PSU. You can see it closer in the last pic.

Very nice and clean! How exactly did you paint the blue? I like the structure or this case but hate the blue accents too...

Nice build, love the case and I am most likely going to use it in mine. I heard though, on Newegg, that the case only came with two standoffs for the motherboard. Did you have to use any screws or standoffs that didn't come with the case for the build or did the case come with all of the required accessories. Sorry, just wanted to make sure that I don't try to buy it for a build and find that I have to stall the build until I go out and by standoffs or screws.
