Believe it or not, this build was about a year in the making, as it started as a humble little AMD-powered "Steambox" WAAAAAAAAY back last November. After a fair bit of trial and error, that just kinda mutated into, well... this.
'Tis life, I suppose.
You may notice a few pricing discrepancies here and there. Some things I got online for good prices (like the Anker mouse... very nice), others I got at the Microcenter the next town over also for good prices (love their CPU/MoBo combos), and a few other items for... not as great prices (like the Asus monitors). And in the case of the 970s (pictured... amazing cards, by the by), I got them at different times, and jacked up and got the "standard" ACX version at first, then resorted to the SC ACX since I couldn't find another regular ACX version that wasn't an upwards of $400. I ran some benchmarks and while the standard ACX card gets a bit of a workout, nothing broke or crashed, and the only hiccups I've gotten were from testing out the surround mode when I was running Unigine Valley, and even those were minute. I may grab another SC ACX 970 sometime after New Years for the sake of consistency, but I dunno yet. We'll see what happens.
I won't take up too much more of anyone's time with this, suffice to say that I'm very proud of both this setup and the work it took to get it where it is. I've learned a lot of things, ate a lot of food, drank a lot of vodka, and, of course, played a lot of games. You'll notice the simplicity in the rig once everything's said and done; while I'm an artist at heart, I don't have the aptitude to even so much as repaint this bad boy. But it works for me; it's just good, clean, simple gaming fun.
Well, that's enough gabbing out of me. There's an event in TERA happening in about 5 minutes of me writing this where all skill cooldowns are decreased by 80% and I need to prepare my tank for the new patch dropping Tuesday. Excuse me...
