Description

Sold my trusty 4770k build to fund this ITX mini machine. Used mainly for gaming and a plex media server. Had fun building such a small build where space was at a premium but I got everything to fit and the temperatures are fantastic. I really need to get an SFX PSU for it.

The GTX 1080 is cooled using a custom NZXT G10 bracket housing a Corsair H55 cooler with 2x 120mm push/pull config.

Update 10-18-17: added an NZXT Hue+, moved the radiator forward to put the fans in a pull configuration and added cable combs to the ATX cables.

Update 2-05-18: Due to mining craze, sold the GTX 1080 and replaced it with an EVGA 980Ti. Waiting for the EVGA hybrid cooler. Case pics have been updated.

Update 3-20-18: Upgraded to an EVGA 980 ti hybrid cooler from the 980 ti founders edition cooler.

Nice build man, I have a question .. what's the point to go with such an expensive liquid cooler for locked cpu?

seckzy submitter 1 Build 6 points 6 months ago

I already had it for my 4770k. My idea is to upgrade to an 8700k when availability is better.

Vernopolis 1 point 6 months ago

I believe ASRock motherboards have the ability to OC non K CPUs.

BEATINGMYSON 3 points 2 months ago

non k cpus cant be overclocked at all

just 4.0Ghz at max, it doesnt really need that cooler

Nicker950_HD 2 points 6 months ago

Maybe if he decides to upgrade to a i7-8700K later on. Not a bad choice but also very unnescessary for now.

seckzy submitter 1 Build 2 points 6 months ago

I already had it laying around from my previous 4770k. My plan is to eventually get an 8700k when they are more readily available.

that seems like madness , you should wait to hear about the icelake generation and update to that ? I know what you mean about cooler tho .. I have a noctua sitting around for three years waiting for use . Maybe in future on a r5 1600 or i5 8400 .. still cant decide. great choice of case , altho I dont think its really a struggle to fit everything in as NANO-s is both big -itx and designed for watercooling. and its cheap..

I'd love to see one more picture of the finished build with the case closed.

seckzy submitter 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

I'll get them up shortly. Still waiting on some cable combs

Gooberdad 8 Builds 1 point 6 months ago

Good deal

seckzy submitter 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

I added 2 pics of the case buttoned up and running. Thinking of adding some more lights inside but I'm not sure.

Gooberdad 8 Builds 1 point 6 months ago

Hey that looks good

7x8 1 point 6 months ago

Very nice, almost the same with my builder only difference is the CPU.

Vernopolis 1 point 6 months ago

Wonderful! How do you like that 1440 monitor? I am thinking of getting a 100hz ultrawide 1440. I figure it is the perfect balance of pixels and refresh rate right now..

Also seeing as your build is pretty portable, can you bring it to my house so I can game on it?

seckzy submitter 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

I love the monitor! Got it off CL for cheap and it overclocks to 100hz without issue! Downside is that it only has a DVI-DL connector.

24p 1 point 6 months ago

Have you ran any benchmarks on it yet? I'd love to see how it does.

SuperAaron335 1 point 6 months ago

I don’t know if you can answer questions, but does your motherboard hav WiFi built in?

seckzy submitter 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

Yes it comes with WiFi and Bluetooth.

awesome thanks

Where did you find a i5-8400 in stock? I'm in USA btw.

stevensmeister 5 Builds 1 point 6 months ago

I actually have one coming from B&H I ordered on 10/09 that just shipped today, but I read that they are getting their stock for the 8700k and the 8600k on 11/28. So I'd assume they wont get more stock until around 11/28?

hypergalaxy8 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

On b&h, it says something about preordering. Are you in the USA?

stevensmeister 5 Builds 1 point 6 months ago

Yep I'm in the USA. It does say preorder, but underneath New Item Coming Soon should be expected availability November 28th, 2017.

hypergalaxy8 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

I looked under it, but it says nothing about November 28th.

I got one at a local Fry's Electronics about a week ago. They had maybe 2-3 left in stock as well as a few 8600k's and other i3 variants. 8700K's were never delivered and no timetable on them.

Do you have the Corsair H110i radiator and fans mounted on the top of the case? I have a long (279mm) GTX 1080 card similar to yours and I'm concerned that there isn't enough clearance to the front of the case for the radiator.

seckzy submitter 1 Build 2 points 4 months ago

No it's mounted in front and there is still about 3-4mm of clearance. Gigabyte's specs says the card is 280mm long and it fits so yours should also fit!

xDerCrafti 1 point 4 months ago

Looks pretty cool!

brianlin91 1 point 4 months ago

hi, i have the same motherboard and casing as you. First time build a pc here, may i ask, how do u connect ur usb 3.0 for the casing to the motherboard as it doesnt have a usb 3.0 header? Thanks !

Ezimm81 1 point 2 months ago

How are temps on the gpu with a front rad? I wanted to do this in my case but still was curious or idle and load temps. I saw bitwits video of front rads have no effect on gpu temps but that was in a bigger case

seckzy submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Sorry for the late reply. I have a custom fan curve on the 980ti and it ramps up to 80% rpm after 60C so it keeps the temps maxed at around 71-73C in Overwatch. I have a case fan below the gpu blowing up at it as well that I keep at a moderate rpm. My rad fans only spin at 900rpm since the 8400 doesn’t require much cooling. I am eventually hoping to upgrade to a K series processor.
