Description

I decided I was sick of my old case, the Nzxt s340 and decided to get the InWin 805, I just loved all that glass. It's basically the same build as this https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/gazereths/builds/#view=zLZ8TW just rehoused with some new cablemod cables and 4 new red led fans.

I tell you It's the last time I buy a case with a glass back/side panel as the vast majority of time was spent cable managing, but I think the end result is worth it.

It's really hard getting decent shots of this with all the glass so there's loads of reflections, sorry about that. Also getting low light shots is something I'm not clued up on, had to mess with ISO settings etc and that's really not my area of expertise. The InWin logo looks a bit orange in these shots but in person looks vibrant red, not sure what went on there.

Just need to think of a new name for the rig, any suggestions?

Part Reviews

Case

The case came really well packed inside it's own cloth bag with fitted dense foam in a very sturdy box. Came with loads of extra screws and bolts and a decent cleaning cloth. A free stick on headphone hanger was included but they sent me a white one so I'm not going to use it.

I love the tempered glass look and the lattice aluminium construction of the front. Cable management options are decent with plenty of room behind the mobo but has no fixed tie down points, it came with stick on tie down points that came off after about 5 mins so I purchased some others from my local PC shop that worked out much better.

It only comes with one fan and at this price I would have liked to see 2 or 3 fans included. A built in fan controller would also have been nice.

The USB 3 type C connector is a nice addition but is of little use to me at the moment. Hopefully more peripherals will adopt this standard in the future.

No front intake at all, the only intake is on the bottom of the case and you have to remove the hard drive caddy to fit up to two 120mm fans, so keep that in mind.

No problems fitting my 280mm radiator in the front. It was a breeze thanks to the removable bracket.

The rear I/O is set into the case (it's not flush with the back) so if you have large connectors there may be an issue but was fine for me.

4/5 stars.

I understand the intention of your comment and this build deserves all the credits it gets, let that be clear.

But, just to everyone that thinks they can't build a system like this, or any other great looking build on this PCPP. You can :) It just takes practice, creativity and a good dose of patience. Some people need more confidence, they don't realise what they're capable off.

A buddy of mine often told me: "Man, i wish i could build a computer like yours". And i always told him that he could, but he has always ignored it. Now, he actually completely build his own beautiful system. Literally every time i see him, he's telling me how proud and happy he is about it :)

Phillip.Phillip 8 points 23 months ago

This is a great comment. I agree with you every bit. However, the reason why I can't build a system like this is not because of a lack of creativity or practice, but because of $omething else lol

rck1984 2 Builds 6 points 23 months ago

I understand that funds are a important part as well, but it doesn't have to be expensive to get a unique build that looks great. A can of spray-paint for example, doesn't break the bank and can do wonders :)

Phillip.Phillip 3 points 23 months ago

Very true. I hope lots of people see these comments before spending hundreds on all sorts of fancy things.

Soldiershak 2 points 23 months ago

You can always just save up if you really want it, but I don't think any of the stuff aesthetic stuff really cost that much.

MarshmellowMan2 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

It's more because of money mate, I come on here and look at pretty pictures and wish I wasn't poor.

your cable management is absurdly beautiful! I'm happy to see another 520w seasonic - it's good to know I won't have to upgrade mine even for and i7/980 combo

MrEthernopian 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

I have a 420W for my i5/980, and it hasn't let me down at all. I had issues with a TT 1080W and just popped my SS back in and the rig runs smooth af

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 0 points 23 months ago

Yeah plenty of power for an i7/980.

Lucrative 2 points 23 months ago

Cable management is unreal +1

sniperpro 2 points 23 months ago

nice but the airflow to the rad if very poor that is the only down side with that case. awesome build

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

Yeah that was a concern of mine but temps are still pretty decent. Not as good as before but still nice and cool. 5 hour gaming session last night took the CPU to about 52 GPU to about 68. Not to bad at all.

sniperpro 2 points 23 months ago

not bad at all, try putting your rad in a pale of ice water, the cooling is actually really good.

NitroOG 2 points 23 months ago

Nice build.

gazereths thanks man! 1/5 of my total Comment karma came from here :D

beatboxingboy 1 Build 2 points 23 months ago

in win needs to rethink the whole idea of (glass back panel). I know it goes with the whole "window/glass case" theme but really? Not everyone can cable manage like this guy. But in regards to the build. Looks great! Cables are amazing! And Pictures. OH PICTURES! SO CLEAR!!

Wolklung 2 points 23 months ago

All that glass.So nice!

I wonder how this build would look with some strategically placed LED strips? Help you interior pop a bit more and really bring out the hexy/honeycomb structure at the front?

Although the subtle, deep glow from within is a nice look too ;)

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

It's something to consider, I might add some led's down the road but that means more cables to manage :P

Wolklung 2 points 23 months ago

True > You seem to be quite skilled in that department :) Great job

deashunboi 8 Builds 2 points 23 months ago

Thankyou so much! I can use your pictures as a guideline for doing my cable management.

MrEthernopian 1 Build 2 points 23 months ago

The beauty of the InWin case makes up for the poor photographic portrayal.

Beauty of a beast! I've considered an M.2 since i saw Samsungs release of them, but can't justify more money in my computer atm.

What do you mainly use it for? Gaming? Easy +1 and grats on the feature!

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

Yeah mainly gaming and media consumption. Some very rare CAD work. Thanks :)

EvZ_2 1 Build 2 points 23 months ago

What cables did you use and what cable ties did you use - after seeing this I think i need more cable ties and my cable management is fairly neat :)

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

I used velcro self gripping reusable ties. It comes on a roll and you cut it to whatever length you need. They are great imo as if you make a mistake, or find a better/more elegant path for your cables, it's easy to undo and you don't waste the tie.

The cables where CableMod SE-Series KM3 & XP2 Cable Kit - Red. Will add that to the parts list.

EvZ_2 1 Build 2 points 23 months ago

Thanks for the info, I used the Cable Mod kit in my white build on my profile but my cable management is not half as neat as yours, simple because you've used so many ties. I'll have to check out the velcro roll ties, because they make it look very uniformed and neat - good job. I was looking at this case - it is very nice. I they make it in white, it's an instant buy for me :)

beastmodegaming 1 Build 2 points 23 months ago

wow amazing case its just overall sexy lol

gamingpcpls 2 points 23 months ago

my gawd wut kind of cable pr0n is this

dustybible 7 Builds 2 points 23 months ago

great build, if you ever are having issues taking photos of glass objects, advise trying a circular polarizer (can get these pretty cheap). What are your thoughts about the dust since it pulls from the bottom? filtration good enough?

this case might be interesting to try with the thermaltake Riing Fans for a different look... (talking to myself).

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

It's a bit early to tell but there's a magnetic dust filter on the bottom of the case and I also put two 120mm dust filters on the top of the two fans so it should keep the majority out.

Thanks for the tip on photographing it, I'll see if my dad has one of those polarisers, he has loads of camera stuff.

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 2 points 22 months ago

Cheers man I'll keep my eyes open for one :)

I remember seeing this in the NZXT.

This InWin case was truly what it needed.

This is truly amazing.

I love that In Win case.

tmicheal1 2 points 22 months ago

How much do you want for your s440

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 1 point 22 months ago

It's the s340 and I'm either going to upgrade my Nephew's PC (70% chance) or put some of my old stuff in there, like a 771 xeon/HD6870/Corsair H60/120GB kingston ssd, and sell it as a complete PC (30% chance)

Redwhistle 2 points 22 months ago

This is absolutely incredible. Excellent work. And thank you for proving to me (and some other folks, I'm sure) that cable management can be sexy.

I just want to know what the red LED fans are that you're using because you didn't list them in your part list.

MSined 3 Builds 2 points 22 months ago

Incredibly impressive Cable Management. One question though, is it okay for SATA cables to be bent like that?

lazenbyt 1 Build 2 points 22 months ago

Name might be LAVA BLOCKS

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 2 points 22 months ago

I like the lava part, there's definitely something there. I think the front honeycomb effect kinda looks like the giant's causeway which is the result of an ancient volcanic eruption....So the lava part is very apt.

+2 if I could give it to you for being the first to actually suggest a name.

lazenbyt 1 Build 2 points 22 months ago

That is quite surprising seeing how this was the featured post on PC PART PICKER for while

chdrummer 2 points 22 months ago

Damn man, nice job on the build! I'm about to build a rig for a friend and he's been looking at this case. But after all the negative things i've read about the I/O shield and poor cooling i'm unsure about it. Do you think the looks of this case are worth the cooling sacrifice?

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 2 points 22 months ago

I've had no real issues with temps, it's not as cool as it was in the s340 case but still very decent. All my fans are set as low as they will go as well. That being said it depends on what kind of workload your friend is going to be putting the system through. On a 5-10 hour gaming session, which is probably the max this system will endure, the temps never rise above 55 on the CPU and 70 on the GPU.

For me the looks of the case were worth the sacrifice definitely.

F0xdude 2 points 22 months ago

You Somehow made cable management in the back beautiful... =3

+1

gunit1111 3 Builds 1 point 22 months ago

Really! How come I can't get mine to look like that beauty? Lol.

Krusifixion 2 points 22 months ago

I kept wondering why"Nim Ni" was spelled out along the side... until I realized I'm a sodding idiot and I was reading it the wrong way.

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 1 point 22 months ago

Yeah it is upside down imo, in win messed up there.

Cosmo_Canyon 1 Build 2 points 22 months ago

I liked it more in the s340.the cables where perfect and the interior so much better. This doesn't look clean.

MarshmellowMan2 1 Build 2 points 22 months ago

This build is so pretty, it's sad that you can't touch that case at all lmao

MrDoyle8 2 points 22 months ago

Love the build! I was wondering, I actually have the same power supply, and was wondering what CableMod cables you used? Are they the SE-Series?

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 1 point 22 months ago

Thanks, yes they are the SE series, I think they fit most if not all Seasonic PSU's.

MrDoyle8 2 points 22 months ago

Awesome!! Thank you!

EyesofPhysics 2 points 22 months ago

Cable management from the gods!

Three questions:

Where did you get those cables from?

Do you think there is room for a dual 120 rad down bottom in front of the psu as well as the dual 120 in front? I wanna make a custom loop with gpu, and I need lots of rad real estate. If it is possible, what's the max psu length you would recommend?

Finally, where does the front rad you have get airflow from?

Thanks man!

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 1 point 22 months ago

Thanks for the compliment :) The gods of patience granted me good cable management :P There were times that I doubted them :P

Cables are the SE series from CableMods with a few minor tweaks from me (removing the +2 from a 6+2 pcie etc)

There is probably room for a 240 rad in the bottom depending on it's orientation/PSU etc, I'm sceptical whether an AIO would fit. I'm sure you could get a custom loop in there though.

I'll have to get back to you on P[SU length, not sure of the dimensions of mine.

The front intake is non existent, which is why I plan to shim the front glass panel with a few tap (faucet) rubber washers to give me a few MM of clearance for better airflow. This case has very poor airflow, but the system I have in place cools everything adequately, if not optimally.

north0019 2 points 15 months ago

Amazing, best 805 build ever, thank you for the detailed photos, especially the right side which had me worried. It is great to see what the possibilities are and you really nailed it.

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

Thanks very much :)

zvixual 1 Build 2 points 14 months ago

Name it Hexalia referring to the front LED pattern?

mophreak 2 Builds 1 point 21 months ago

Hey, does the "InWin" logo have it's own LEDs? Or is it being illuminated by your case fans?

Charmin 1 point 20 months ago

is the kraken x61 quiet? I'm planning on buying this and I just want to make sure that it won't be annoying or anything.

Bee66 10 Builds 1 point 20 months ago

Just wanted to ask whether the tempered glass panels on your In Win 805, has slight striping/color distortions when its reflecting yellow light off a lamp etc?

Thanks!

Cable management on FLEEK!

Yahtadi 1 point 16 months ago

Amazing build! Pretty match color, well done job at cable management depart. All +1

Quick question, after you remove storage bay at the bottom.. Is it possible to add 1 more fans so 3 fans total in front?

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 1 point 16 months ago

Only two 120mm fans on the bottom front where the hdd caddy was and two 140mm fans on the rad.

Yahtadi 1 point 16 months ago

Is it possible to add 1 more fans so 3 fans total in front?

gazereths submitter 8 Builds 1 point 16 months ago

I don't think so no.
