Description

This is my first build ever. Had a lot of fun building it, trouble shooting etc. Well, i really didn't have any problems, i just didn't press my displayport connection in enough on the monitor side so nothing showed up. Also I inputted the ram in the wrong slots but quickly fixed that before I even did a test boot.

I wanted to go with an all white build but after persuing the forums for a couple weeks I decided against it. I still love the design of the h440 case in white, and its a very newb friendly case. There arent a lot of cases out there that I liked so still decided on the case.

In terms of mods, I spray painted the shroud on my gpu white (4 screws hold it in place so easy to get off/on) I spray painted my SSD white as well. The white I used is Rustoleum high heat spray enamel. Basically has a temp rating of 600+ degrees so itll be fine in my case. Solid coverage, matte finish.

For the silver nxzt logo i took that off and used rustoleum metallic finish. Not quite what i was goin for and I put it on a lil thick so took awhile to dry and has some finger prints that I need take care of. I am thinking of spraying the black pats of my case silver as well. I think it'd be pretty cool.

In terms of specs...I bought stuff that would match together as I care for aesthetics, as much as good performance. Plus silence is golden and was hoping for a pretty quiet build, which this build is (im a light sleeper and this doesnt wake me up at all)

everyday mundane tasks, this rig is silent. Like you need to put your head up near the case to really hear it. Ive only gamed on it once and it was still silent.

edit: added lights! wooo

Wow, that looks really nice! How many coats did you have to put on to paint your gpu?

did 1 light coat after steel wooling the glaze finish off...then 1 heavy coat...then a half coat to perfect it.

why you didn't go for Raid 0?

  • 1 point

if i add another hd i will, considering my old pc was 8-9 yrs old and both drives failed when building this pc....all my music :-( will prolly add to the build when i get more familiar with my system etc.

go for 2x 120GB. 240GB quite enough for C drive. To keep data on OS drive - quite bad habit and when you got a lot of space - you will keep it for sure. so go for smaller space and that will stop you from keeping data on C. C drive for installs only. Also Raid 0 may sound like something complicated to make but it is very very simple thingy to do. Good luck ;) p.s. dont go for Evo's but for Pro's. Evo's designed as stand alone drive

thx. ill look into it. ive been making it a habit to install stuff on ssd and all my pics_music_dloads on my 1tb hd. but i may need to go with more space as you said only for the fact that if i start more pc gaming i'll need the space.

can you gimme the name of the paint?

  • 1 point

rustoleum high heat spray for the SSD and HD - high heat properties so paint doesnt come off and wont flinch if you're running hot in the case

the metalic is rustoleum bright coat metallic finish - not advisable to paint ssd cuz low heat properties of paint...max 200 degrees...so i worried for the constant high heat cold cycle....unless u can keep ur system super cool when you run your **** full blast

Nice to see another Sabertooth/H440 build. Think ill have to spray my SSD's after seeing yours :)

Pure white builds are becoming a trend, love it!

very nice build yourself cheers mate! whats ur board #? mine is #5232

i saw u got teh HOF, i jus recently discovered that card last week bfore I got my strix and yea that wouldve been great toh ave in my build but not worth the extra $$ just for the white color. luckily the strix had the shroud you can paint white. and honestly with the white paint i used, i can prolly paint the pcb white and not worry at all bout the paint coming off.

i was gonna cable my wires white as well....but having trouble finding good high gloss white cable...want the gloss finish to play off the lights i attach to make it even 'pop' more. techflex has the gloss i want but not very dense....paracord isnt gloss....and theres not pet type cables but quality not too good...hard to see by pics

i love your lights...imma go purchase some lights tomorrow...get white cuz not enough pop in my case

yea paint ur ssds man...easy mod...or if you wanna go with an accent color like your red...you can do a gloss red which would stand out and look sick imo.

Thank you. My board number is 7437, i wasnt too happy as my first board was faulty and it was just over 6000, cant remember exactly, lower the better right :P

Ive decided against the red accent, im going as white as i can, i want white cables with white plastic connectors but i can only find them in England

theres a youtube vid of a guy who went all white...and it looked good...but with the different finishes of white, just looked off imo. still looked good though, you may want to check it out to see how it would look like if you go that route.

as long as its not attached to the fans, then do it. should be only 4 screws holding them in. :-)

ty. easy to work with. was tempting to do the fans as well but didnt have the balls to tear my gpu apart to get to it. linus makes it look so easy. lol

Nice build, I'm interested in some of the same parts and was wondering how it preforms? Any benchmarks? Thanks in advance!

  • 1 point

i did a 3d mark 11 that i dloaded from steam beyond that, haven't done any benchmarks. havent had the time but ill try and get to it. in terms of of performance...everything is fast for normal everyday. gaming is great. i get a lil low on the fps counter when **** hits the fan on Planetside 2 but usually 80-100 fps. OCing the components are easy but havent done it yet...will get to it sometime this weekend. but i5 is beast at 4.0+ and ram can change voltage only adn get 2133mhz and the gpu...dunno yet...linus said its a beast of a card to OC so we shall see.

Nice build mate. How did you not get paint on the asus logo on the bottom left of the card shroud? Also are you planning to paint the backplate? I am thinking about strix 970 sli + evga 750 ti physx in white with the same mobo. Thanks!

i used a razor to take both the asus and strix logo off..i over did it with the strix logo since i used crazy OP glue....so learned to make it clearner seal on the asus part with the glue. they're both cheap alumium pieces u can use a razor to take the glue off carefully Ty!
