Build

The White Ice Block. (Main PC Build)

by Yooo96

Description

I mainly use this computer for games, work, and just browsing reddit ( ^ ). This pc gobbles up everything I throw at it, and it runs just superb. One thing I am going to replace down the line is the SSD and the HDD. Other than that, Everything else is brand spankin' new.

Part Reviews

CPU

It's the perfect CPU for the gaming consumer.

CPU Cooler

Whisper quiet even on load. I must say, I replaced the Cooler master Hyper evo 212 with this and I have no regrets whatsoever.

Motherboard

I've been eyeing this motherboard ever since its been released and now that I have it... I have experienced true bliss. It's a beautiful motherboard, BIOS is amazing to use, and RGB lights... Need I say more?

Memory

Ram does what Ram does. It's perfect.

Storage

It's great for leaving your OS on it but other than that, I probably wouldn't use it for anything else..

Storage

Hasn't failed on me yet, so that's good enough for me.

Video Card

It's a great card. Is not loud at all during heavy loads, and has devoured every game I've thrown its way so far.

Case

Beautiful case for my minimalistic friends out there. Sleek and very VERY easy to work with.

Power Supply

Trying to lower my electricity bill since my computer is on most days of the week and EVGA has a fantastic reputation with their PSUs. Eco mode on this is also great to have since I despise a loud PC.

Optical Drive

Functions as needed. Only bought this in case I ever needed a to install something through a CD.

It can get a bit loud which can bother some people but I mean, who uses CDs nowadays?

Operating System

10/10.

Case Fan

Quiet and keeps my pc cool. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Monitor

I use this monitor to watch my movies on since it's an IPS monitor. Colors are better.

Monitor

I use this monitor to play my games since it's 75hz. Color reproduction is a bit odd at first turn on but once adjusted it's great.

Keyboard

Need a keyboard for long typing sessions, and this fits the bill.

Mouse

This mouse is the best mouse I've ever used. Hands down.

Speakers

I have spoiled my ears with these speakers.. I've heard melodies in certain songs I didn't know existed til these speakers. The subwoofer that comes with it makes for very very very frequent complaints from my neighbors regarding the constant Thump Thump Thump of the bass.

hey it seems like your PSU is upside down. The fan should be on facing downwards so it can pull in air to cool the PSU.

Your motherboard supports dual channel memory. You should check the manual for the MOBO and move one of the memory sticks to slot 1 (usually the 2nd one) and then leave one stick where it sits (probably the far right stick) you'll see a slight increase of performance. May not be a lot, but will help.

Slots 1 and 2 are for your slots you wanna use since you only have 2 sticks of ram in the manual there on page 1-2 (charter 1 page 2) and labeled a1 and a2, then 3 and 4 are for 2 extra ram sticks for B1 and B2

Fix your ram, dimm slots should be alternating for dual channel.

how is the asus 1440p monitor?

Yooo96 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 14 months ago

It might take a bit of adjusting to get the colors right but once you do, it's really great for the price.
