Description

I should really call this a Civ5 box...

Longtime in the making. I've been talking about building this for a while but recently decided to just go crazy and do it. My goal was $1,000. The below are all prices INCLUDING tax + shipping + rebates, so what you see is the actual end price I paid.

As you can see these parts are cobbled together from other popular builds so no surprises here. Just powerful, efficient, and classy. This is my gaming machine. Currently handles all games at high and ultra setting.

Build was fairly straightforward and got it up and running on first attempt. I don't plan on doing any over-clocking so I did not feel a liquid cooling system was necessary. I also already had a 1.5TB Seagate drive to drop in explaining why theres no second storage option. While I'm not running the Steam OS, it serves primarily for gaming on Steam. Running Win7 until 10 comes out. GPU barely fit in this case but was able to get all the cabling secured before dropping it in there. Box is silent as a a cat's fart.

While not a 'true' Steam Box due to running Windows on it, it would be blasphemy and a waste of hardware if you did put Steam OS on it (for now). :)

Very nice build and a ton of power in a tiny package. +1

How's the Tri-X with that PSU? Still glorious? No problems at all?

Steambox, +1 for that alone. Solid build too.
