Work and gaming.
be better with back story on this and few more images of say inside etc, but the parts you bought are pretty cool.
Wait... You got a CPU that's hard to overclock, and a Noctua? I'm not sure about the motherboard either might be for overclocking...
I would say that there would be some upgrading but with an i7, I don't think so.
No plan on overclocking. I just need the Noctua to keep things cool. It can get pretty warm where I'm at.
Am in San Antonio, it gets extremely hot here, the stock cooler gives me the same temps on a non overclock CPU compared. Plus a MB that is for overclocking, a lot of that wasted money would have upgraded that GPU to something that doesn't have HALF the memory bandwidth as its competition AMD.
I love the side panel on the case, I didn't know 912's had that available.
Yeah... unless your house boils, I don't think you would need anything besides a stock cooler, and maybe at most $30 spent on a cooler for lower temps, and perhaps less sound, but stock coolers are really not that bad. I would've spent $30 on a cooler and $30 for the unlocked processor, or the full $60 on a GPU.
The stock cooler generates a lot of noise. I wanted to buy a cooler that has at least 4 heat pipes. I had no other choice but the noctua.
I looked into going with 7950 HD but I'm worried about linux support. I run the whole thing on linux for work and play. The games I run under wine. This won't be necessary in the next few months because of Steam for Linux.
The stock cooler really isn't very loud. Also, what do you mean your only choice was Noctua? There are tons of 4+ heatpipe coolers for less money. Enermax ETS-T40-TB is basically just as quiet, and performs extremely close as well.
That said, the UD3H is just wasted on a locked processor. a $60 H77 board would have done the exact same job for less. Hell, with that board you could have got a 3570k for much less, and easily outperformed that 3770 with a little OC.
How's the case?
The case is a haf 912 combat edition. The 912 is good and the combat edition is better. It has a black interior, a usb 3.0 header, and a clear side. For me it's almost as good as the haf X.
