Description

I sold my Alienware X51 recently so I decided to build this, I wanted something small that keeps cool and has pretty decent specs. So, here we have it. I went with the coolermaster 130 because A. It's cheap, B. It's small and C. It's got good airflow. I was really surprised at the quality of this case too.

Everything about this build went perfect, well...almost, getting the CPU block to sit straight was a pain. But, apart from that it went great.

I went with the i5 due to only using the PC for browsing and gaming, I don't intend on doing anything where hypertuning from an i7 would come in useful.

the cooler I bought was actually a H80 (not I) because it was only £40! Bargain, and I scrapped the fan it came with and used the cooler master fan which is much quieter.

Motherboard wasn't to important for me, as I only intend of going up to 16GB RAM and have no intention of overclocking I just went with a cheap as possible board.

RAM, again wasn't too important to me. I went with 1600MHz and intend on getting another 8GB next week.

The Graphics card, I spent hours deciding what GPU to buy for the moment, so I went with the GTX 770 for now. Installing it was easy and the only issue is, the radiator pipes are in the way slightly which is pushing the card forward just a little bit. (I may switch the radiator the other way so the pipes are on the right).

I intend on upgrading my GPU in September to something that's top of the range, because I'm getting money for Uni...so why not.

PSU, I just went with a well known brand with enough Wattage and the right cables, not much else to say.

So that's all, took me just oevr 2 hours to build, I probably spent an hour doing cable management too lol.

Part choice should've been different. It didn't make sense that you had no intention to overclock but you got an overclockable processor and a motherboard that doesn't allow it. You should've gotten an i5-4570 or something. You also could've gotten a 250GB Samsung 840 EVO drive for a lot cheaper than you got your SSD. Other than that, nice build.

I plan on upgrading the motherboard when I upgrade my graphics, this build is to just keep me going till the end of the year, also the SSD I already had it laying around :p and it's an Agility 4 not 3 (3 was the only option on this site in the UK)

also shouldve went with 2x4 ram sticks for dual channel

Can you not read :p 'intend on getting another 8GB next week' I'd rather wait a week and get another 8GB than get 2x4.

don't worry about dual channel, for a gaming machine dual channel won't make you get anymore frames. Zip files will extract faster though ;). That being said, I think you should refrain from buying another 8GB stick because that won't help you either

I may not bother then, I know 8GB is well enough for current games. I was just thinking ahead that's all, but when the time comes I can easily add more RAM (the beauty of PC gaming lol)

yeah, I'm pretty sure everyone (including myself) would rather just build with 16GB and call it a day

Thanks man, it was a nice case to work with. I thought it'd be tricky getting stuff in but it was surprisingly easy. Most things are removable to help get stuff in.

I plan on upgrading the motherboard at the end of the year, this is just to keep me going till then :) I'll probably get the MSI Z781. Also, if you had raid I said 'intend on getting another 8GB next week' and the SSD is a Agility 4, I had this prior to the build, something I bought around a year ago and had it laying around.

People don't realise that in the UK everything is much more expensive, and if this site converts the currency then it's going to look really expensive in USD.

are you using 2 fans on the liquid cooler or just one ? f you used the 2 together, is there space for a 3.5" HDD behind the cooler or no ? thnx
