Description

Wanted to build a new gaming/photo editing PC with a somewhat small foot print. Here's what we landed at.

Overall things went fairly smooth. There are a couple of concerns, however:

  1. The NH-D15 didn't fit with this ram and case combination. I had to drop it down to a single fan. Fortunately the 3950X runs really really cool so it's not really an issue.

  2. I ended up supplementing with some additional case fans.

  3. In the Fractal Meshify, DO NOT install the cooler before installing the motherboard in the case. Plugging in the wires were a bit of a nightmare with this brick in there.

Nice components and build! I am about to start one that’s very similar. Waiting on the 3950x from Amazon which is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.

Question on installing the Noctua cooler before or after installing the board into the case. I ha e the same board and cooler but it’s going into a Fractal Define R6. Would you recommend installing the cooler after the board is installed in the case and wired?

I have an R6 with a dark rock pro 4 (about the same size). I would install the cooler first and connect it to the cpu header outside the case. They are large air coolers, but not hard to work around in an R6. Love this case.

I probably still would. There really isn't that much space to work in the mid sized cases. Plugging in the various cables was a nightmare and I had to get really creative.

Expensive Build :)

Case Looks tight.

Did you just use one fan to show the RGB of the ram or moving the 2 fan on the D15 to fit the Trident Z didn't give you enough clearance with the Meshify C?

It was a clearance issue. I tried to move it up but then I couldn’t put the side panel on the case. Low profile ram is a better choice here.

What a beast, this is almost exactly a replica of my current Saved Part List. The only difference being me waiting for the next gen GPU's and going for some Low Profile Ram like Vengeance. So i'll keep the 140mm on aswell. I really want to add two 140mm Noctuas at the top aswell as long as it improves temperatures a tiny bit. What do you reckon?

Two questions!

  1. Would you recommend the case for this? The ports seem a bit outdated.

  2. How are you using your SSD's? I assume in some special way due to the choice of no HDD.

Sick build!

Alright I'm back after doing some more research. I've figured out the answer to both questions, still going for the C unless they release an updated version in the near future and also picked my desired storage SSD's.

Great build!

Just curious - are you having any coil whine with this build?

Thank you!

Very nice build, similar to mine! You tried placing the NH vertically? Depending on your case config it may fit with 2 vents
