Description

This is the 4th version of my workstation. I am a user with many interests and as such this machine is used for gaming, content creation, and music production. Im coming from a 2600k build of similar proportions in its day. Its been a while since I did a build.. I must say Im amazed at how inexpensive things have become in the last 8 years and how far hardware has come.

Im a bit disappointed with the thermal performance of the 8700k specifically with a watercooler on it (it seems i did not win the cpu lottery and have one thats TIM stinks) I get around 66c under moderate gaming load but stress tests climb higher. Luckily im not video encoding .. yet. perhaps a delid is in the future.

I think my favorite part of the build was using the sleeved cables from CaseMod. Really added a nice touch to the build and made everything sort of tie together.

All in all with the exception of having to reseat the cooler a couple times (trying to get lower temps) this build was rather simple and the NZXT h700 offers a lot by way of cable management which was nice as well. After it was all together typical build OCD with cable management up front. I went through a few diff configurations before settling down on the current and spent a better part of 2 weeks dialing in the fan profiles.

I also downsized from a triple monitor set up to a 34" ultrawide.. while gaining Gsync has been nice not too sure that I'm liking the lack of additional monitor might be adding another to the set up.

Have not messed with the GPU clocks yet.. not sure if its needed at this point..

Side Note: Holy hell M.2 though.. easiest install of a storage drive ever experienced... and clean too.

Thought about it but ultimately deemed it way overkill... till I spring a need. Someday. lol

whats the difference between temps of CPU+GPU with radiator on top and on front pannel? Thinking about mounting of the same h150i in H700.

Sorry I just saw this.

Im actually unable to comment on that unfortunately. Its not possible to run a push/pull radiator configuration on the top. Push pull is too thick unless you put the top layer of fans inside the case shroud but it would be pretty close butted up against the lid and unable to pull enough air in.
