Description

Names Chris,

This was my first PC build I was a little worried at first but it ended up not being to hard.

Not much to say I went with the Latest greatest Quad-core unlocked processor In case I feel like overclocking. Still not sure if overclocking is worth it please comment.

3/11/2016 I have overclocked to 4.7GHz with 1.34v max temp 62c

Asus Maximus VIII extreme is an amazing motherboard they're so many features and tool to use. I plan on grabbing two more 970s eventually is another reason I went with this board.

The Corsair 750D has plenty of room for me to go triple SLI and a Full water Cooling system in the future if I feel like it.

Thats about all I can say right now. I haven't had time to really tinker with it.

Please comment on the build with some pointers and whether I should overclock. Asus motherboards come with awesome overclocking software.

That... is one massively expensive motherboard. Glad it works for you but I think I'd have plowed $300 more into a 980 Ti over that high-end of a mobo!

Eh, I plan on going SLI/ getting a better graphic card later. I didn't want to wait on a better motherboard and change all that out later.

You can wait for the upcoming Pascal :D

DAMN! The cable management tho xD. Badass PC, but with a little work on the cables the setup would look pretty BA.

Build looks wonderful overall and it deserves the +1 but people will bash you to heck with cables. I had trouble at first too with them and i know it takes time but i would really recommend using the IKEA Signum. It works well for cables but is a bit large if you dont have much room. I discovered that those cable clips that you place under desks are terrible at supporting the HDMI/DVI cables that run under my desk. I recommend using (Dont laugh) Eye hooks with Velcro straps. You can make a nice net thats really close to your desk and hang stuff there if you need to.

Thank you,

That looks amazing I will look into getting one.

In my first build, I didn't even attempt cable management. It was a disaster, and the cales are covering up all of the components, so compared to my first build, great job.

Nice job. Yes must try overclocking at least a little. Use the automatic settings in your Asus suite to get a feel for it. Just try a small step at a time and see if you can tell the difference. There are wonderful overclocking forums with suggested settings for cpu's and gpu's as well.

This system should perform great as is though. Again nice job.+1

Okay ill try it what is usually the fist thing to go out long term when you rig is OC.

  • 1 point

Well the cpu can overheat like a mother. More heat equals less life. Yeah it's safer not to oc but it's fun.

Ill try clocking it to 4200-4300 and see what temps say.

Is the AF corsair series worth more than the SP corsair series in this case ?? Is there a difference, and wich one is the best ??

I don't believe that there is a big difference. I can't say for sure due to me not owning the static pressure ones. I went with the AF series based on the good reviews it has.

You way overspent on the mobo. Completely unnecessary for this level of a build, but hey, it looks cool!

Yea, I didn't know much about computers when I built this. I figured that I needed a good motherboard to be future proof. I should of got the 980 ti instead of this motherboard, but it is very nice and has some perks.
