Description

*FAN SETUP* Two top Exhast. Two front intake. One Bottom intake. The rear is intake with rad as Fan==>Rad Fan==>

Hey guys I'll try to make this quick yet informative!

I made the huge mistake of buying a "gaming computer" (acer predator G series) a long time ago for like $1200. Knowing what I know now makes me cringe at the money I wasted. As I learned more and more about computer parts I slowly replaced parts here and there till I got to this point here! I've tried to stay only in the realm of what I truely need. I'm a single monitor, 1080p gamer who also has a side hoppy of Graphic Design (After Effects, Photoshop, Cinema4d)

CPU- Kept the i7 from my original purchsed computer. Its an i7-2600 (non-k) that is overclocked to 4ghz. We'll used to be. Its currently at 3.8 just so I dont worry about temps or anything and its not like its helping me out all that much for the extra 200mhz. It does great for what I do.

GPU- Like I said I have a single monitor setup so the Gigabyte 760 is perfect for that. Stays really cool too!

SSD- Went with the OCZ Vector mainly because it went on a nice sale at the time and its speeds are very competitive with anything else. All storage folders have their default routes to the HDD.

Cooling - The Corsair H50 does really well for as cheap as it is. I had a Cooler Master N250 air cooler on this but the AIO cooler does a much better job at keeping overall case temps down.

MOBO - Liked the ASrock z77 Ex 4 for its price at the time and it has everything i need. AND SWEET Gold looking Caps!

CASE- I chose this case fore its classy, grownup design!

Hope you guys like my build! It has been a long time in the making! Tried to take snazzy pics for you too! The last 3 pics have the old air cooler in them.

(ps. guitar pick is in parts list as I squeezed on in between the top mesh to stop a vibration noise)

Froom looks of it all your fans seem to be intake? Need some exhaust either rear and if u need top aswell.

Daisyahoy submitter 4 Builds 1 point 48 months ago

there are two more purple fans on the top but are exhaust fans. sorry didn't include a picture of them maybe I can find one later

so0shiboi 2 Builds 1 point 48 months ago

If you're trying to do push and pull i believe its the either way around.

Daisyahoy submitter 4 Builds 1 point 48 months ago

normally i intake through the front and bottom and exhaust out the top and rear. But when i got the water block Corsair recommends to have it an intake also for best performance. Since I have my pc in a desk cabinet it makes sense for me to do it this way since there is cool air behind the desk and it fills the space its in with hot air.

Daisyahoy submitter 4 Builds 1 point 48 months ago

Also, the spot it is in has a wood bottom, sides, and top surrounding the pc with a cardboard material backing. I have a cutout the size of the pc cutout at the back.

so0shiboi 2 Builds 1 point 48 months ago

I understand but if that was the case then you would need to switch the fronts to exhaust. As for your top fans. You have both fans pushing/pulling air into different directions. You want both fans to push air into the same direction. From the sounds of it you have 2 fans on top of each other on top? No idea if that works well since push pull is generally for radiators.

Daisyahoy submitter 4 Builds 1 point 48 months ago

top- two fans exhausting up, front- two fans for intake, bottom- one fan for intake, rear- one intake/rad/through second intake. ~>RAD~>

not sure how much more simpler i can make it.

Aside from the comments about the fans. Good clean build. +1

Daisyahoy submitter 4 Builds 1 point 48 months ago

Wait wait, do u agree or disagree with the comments, given my setup. Curious.

Sythesism 7 Builds 1 point 48 months ago

<== fan == rad == fan ==> if that is how it's set up, i'd agree with them that you need to fix the fans.

<== fan == rad <== fan == if that's how it's set up, i'd disagree with them.

Daisyahoy submitter 4 Builds 1 point 48 months ago

its as follows

Fan==>Rad Fan==>

Its setup as an intake into the case because my case is in an desk. The desk has a cardboard like material at the back that I cut out in the shape of the pc. Corsair also recommends that it be an intake also. Normally I have an exhaust fan in the rear but there is cooler air behind my desk for the rad.

Sythesism 7 Builds 1 point 48 months ago

Okay, that makes sense now. thanks for clearing it up.

AIien_Ant_Farm 1 Build 1 point 48 months ago

Thoughts on the case?

Daisyahoy submitter 4 Builds 1 point 48 months ago

very roomy. Not a huge amount of room on the backside for cable management but enough. Hard to complain since I didn't get a modular power supply and I have to hide all those cables. you can remove the drive bays which is nice. I like that the front is completely blank, looks clean. Plenty of space for fans and extra room on top for a Rad if you like. Sets off the floor a bit. Has fan filters all around. I like the placement and size of the window. And its a good quality pane. All in all a nice case.

birdman33 1 point 47 months ago

Was the cpu cooler hard to set up, and is it a good cooler?

Daisyahoy submitter 4 Builds 1 point 47 months ago

it was pretty straight forward with the directions included. There are youtube videos also out there. It keeps it as cool as the Cooler Master N520 that it replaced but there is less overall heat in the desk i have it in.

How do light up the purple light in the case?!

Daisyahoy submitter 4 Builds 1 point 46 months ago

If you are asking how well the purple lights up the case, they arent very bright. They let off a soft glow in the case at best. If all the light are off in my house and im looking straight into the window you cant even tell they are on.

wescraig8833@gmail.com 1 point 40 months ago

Very nice and clean build! I'm going for a similar look with the deep purples and blacks too!

I'm curious if you've tried your liquid cooler as exhaust and how that may have affected your cooling, if at all.? Thanks, and fantastic job!

Daisyahoy submitter 4 Builds 1 point 40 months ago

i havnt tried it as an exhaust yet. My case sits in a compartment in my desk that fills up with warm air. there is cool air behind my desk so for me it makes sense for it to be an intake. Also, theres a little tidbit in the manual that actually recommends for it to be used as an intake.

http://www.corsair.com/media/cms/manual/h50_qsg.pdf

But im sure in my case it would be about the same either way.

wescraig8833@gmail.com 1 point 40 months ago

Makes sense. Thanks for the info! :)

Looks awesome but that h50 water block ruins the aesthetic for me. Really clean and love the purple +1

Daisyahoy submitter 4 Builds 1 point 48 months ago

What would look better? I'm just curious and value everyone's input. Did u see the pics with the air cooler?

I like the 700m. I came from using a Cyber Sniper Silencer for a long time. Its a larger palm mouse for ergonomic gaming I assume. That mouse felt amazing. But I had had it for a long time and just wanted something new. Normally the Cougar would have been out of my price range but I did a side network job for someone so i figured Id get a nice one. I do a lot of graphic design also so i wanted a good one also. When I first got this mouse I had just got Advanced Warfare and I suddenly sucked lol. I couldnt grip it right and I kept pressing the thumb buttons, which I use to crouch and prone. The sensitivity felt wildly different even at the same dpi settings as the other mouse. Overall I was very frustrated with the experience. However that didnt last long and I got used to it and I love it now. Occasionally i still hit the thumb buttons but its no biggy. I tend not to use the "Sniper" button on the left as I dont find its int a comfortable spot for me. Its like I have to shift my hand to get to it. But that doesnt bother me.

I wholeheartedly would recommend the mouse if you already are used to that style of mouse. I had to do some major adjusting coming from a palm ergonomic mouse. But its great. Slides smooth. clicks smooth. Looks smooth. I didnt think i would use the other back rest either but I ended up trying that out and I liked the smaller one better.

And WHOA looks like we got a grammar Nazi here. lol jk thanks
