Description

So this is a long awaited pc build. Ive been gaming on "gaming laptops" Asus G75 for the past 2 years and before then was a G73. My last Pc build was a core 2 quad with 9800 GX2s in sli, but sadly that was a while ago.

For this build Im kinda going all out but trying to keep with in a budget and keep a color scheme of white and blue.

I chose:

  • Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor I went with the i5 for a few reasons here. One while I do some video editing as well as lightwave, 3ds and photoshop, I really dont need an i7 for the hyper threading to be worth it. With a little over clocking this will be just as beast as the i7 but cheaper. Also other then the .5ghz difference and the level 3 cache, theres not much of a difference there either and gaming never see's the more cores of an i7.

  • MSI Z170A XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM EDITION ATX LGA1151 Motherboard I love the silver and that its almost white. The specs of the board are what everyones looking for and is better then your cheaper LGA1151 boards.

-Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory The faster the better. 3200 DDR4 should keep me running for a while and later then upgrade to 32gb.

-2x Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive I really wanted to get the M.2 version with the stats of pure awesomeness but not for the $300 price tag. In this build I will be going with Raid 0. This is a gaming rig only so im not worried about redundancy or if something randomly goes bad and I lose the filesystem.

-EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Superclocked+ ACX 2.0+ Video Card Best 980 you can get for the price and the looks of the card arnt bad. The only thing I wish this card had the better power phase for future potential overclocking.

-Corsair RM 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Well I could have gone cheaper, but I never go cheaper when its the PSU. Or under/ right on amount of power needed. At 1000w and 83w at the 12v rails, this has what I need to stay in business even when I add a second card in sli.

-Corsair 750D ATX Full Tower Case Yea everyone has gone with this case, but the plan is a custom lighting system wired to a adjustable fan controller switch. I can adjust the brightness of the light with it. I might paint the case but im undecided yet.

-Acer XG270HU 144Hz 27.0" Monitor Ok so a lot of searching and a lot of youtube videos finding just the monitor I want. This has a decent price tag and at 1440p 144hz its pretty good. I really wanted an ultrawide but HOLY crap if I wanted an ultrawide at 144hz id spend the same if not more then the whole pc build. The plan will prolly be getting the x34 later on.

UPDATE: So I upgraded to the Acer Predator X34 and got myself a GTX 1080 Hybrid and man or man is it nicer then ever. I made a psu cover and got some braided cables and upgraded to better case fans as well.

you left a clear sticker on the FTW on your graphics card. Nice looking build looks fun.

Actually there's no sticker on the card. If your thinking its the FTW logo. Its a rubbery piece that looks like it has one on it..... super annoying.

ohh really that's a bummer I was just curious because when I un boxed my gtx 970 SC it had a clear sticker on the SC logo on the card, Guess its different.

How well does that i5 perform with tasks like rendering and photoshop? Would it be worth the $100 to get the i7? And 0.00 seems like a good price for the build.

If you are doing major rendering, i7 definitely! If your doing entry level editing then i5 oc'ed works well. The more threads and cores the better for things like that.

nothing major. 1080p is it.

"Ark at 60fps"

Hahahahahahahaha

But seriously, beautiful build!

Ty, but nope I average 56 fps with all settings maxed except for sky. I can screen shot it if you like. It's taxing tho. Temps with stock flu fan speeds get high. Open hardware monitor few to manually set that fan speed.

Oh, I believe you. I'm more so making fun of Ark for how graphically unoptimized it is by saying a 980Ti couldn't run it. I honestly can find no fault in your build itself, I want to do an all-white build as well (and should be soon, assuming I can afford it) and your build is great inspiration for that.

May i say i hate intel but the I5 is a cpu i can respect, just perfect power for gaming, but having such a beast build, you may want to do other things such as video editing or what not. thats when i suggest getting a 6-8 core cpu- if you want the cores go AMD if you want PURE gaming go INTEL the I3 is a well know office pc cpu the I5 is a gaming cpu id say The i7 is a gaming and other IT cp

But i dont think the I7 8 core is worth the price atm i would go for a 8320-8350 for the same price as a I5 yet can game well and do other IT work just as well

But i gotta say i wish i had a 980ti

If I may add, I believe instead of going for two ssd, why not go for a 1tb hard drive and an ssd. This would free up some room for some different specs. also, the psu is kind of overkill for this build and the case really could be different. Hope this was useful.

I am sitting more then comfortable at 4.23 ghz with plenty of room to go higher. The max I had was 4.6 stable at 1.33v. It passed full day tests but I dont want to max it out just yet. I like a burn in time at a lower OC before I push it to its max.

Nope, no sticker left on the psu, weird huh. But yes there is a huge difference in ram (type and speed).I was wondering how long till some one caught it :) Im running em at 3200 with xmp.

Yea 1080 would be a huge waste. Im currently running a 1440p but not the monitor I want. 1200 for the X34 is soo much money but would look amazing.

Tbh it really looks like you forgot to take the sticker off...

It really looks like there is something there...
