Description

Note The pictures I used are of the build before installing the GTX 960, since I was too lazy to take pictures of it after installing it.

Back in January I made my first ever PC, the "Ludicrous Speed" and recently with the release of GTA 5, I found that my old Asus R9 270X wasn't cranking out enough FPS and was frequently crashing the game. So I decided it was time for an upgrade in GPU as well as a new monitor instead of my old 22" Elements TV (which I broke, lol)

So I now present to you, Ludicrous Speed 2.0.

CPU and Cooler are fantastic. The 6300 was an ease to overclock and I think can even be pushed further because of my increase in residual power and the really nice cooling by the TX3.

The MoBo is where things start to get kinda ghetto. The thing has SATA 3 and a max memory clock of 1333, so I'm not getting the most out of my RAM and SSD. The thing also only has 1 fan header besides the CPU fan, so I had to take out the back fan of the Core 1300 and hope that the CPU fan could keep the hot air out of the case. Other than these few things, the MoBo is pretty good.

The RAM is great, and I am already a big fan of Kingston, but I think I would need a better MoBo before I could give a proper judgement on this.

The SSD is beautiful, but the same problem the RAM faces goes with this, the crappy MoBo.

Now, the only updated part, and by far the most important, the GPU. The GTX 960 is great, and that no fan until 65 degrees Celsius is awesome, even though i never really go higher than 65. The thing overclocked great, and holds a pretty steady clock, as well as not even being loud when cranked up to 100% fan speed.

Case is OK, and serves it's purpose but I would really like it if it had better cable management options.

The PSU is like the case, serves it's purpose, but could be better.

Optical Drive doesn't really get used much, I only really used it to install Windows and it did that pretty fast.

Monitor is amazing, resolution is really nice for only being 1600x900, and the different options in the menu are really nice.

Keyboard is awesome, and I just love the clicks and the ease of pressing down the keys.

Mouse is also good, and I really prefer it over my old Deathadder with all the extra keys on the side.

Headphones have great sound, and the mic is pretty clear. The sound canceling and surround sound is also good, and it makes Amnesia really scary.

Oh no! the r9 270x couldn't cut it? Was it perhaps a driver issue? I was under the impression that my Asus r9 270 would be able to handle it. :/

it may be issues with the mobo, as its limiting the ram pretty badly and may have some other issues running the pci express bus

you should be able to pick up a fan adapter for 3/4pin to molex so you can run your fan straight off the power supply on the back fan, that would help your temps a bit

Everything on High with 16X filtering, FXAA, and soft shadows on low, got between 45 and 60 fps while staying below 60 degrees celsius and no fans.
