LE MEME MACHINE

There is an updated page with more photos here

I needed something that would run any game on high settings and could render video/3d models, this is what I created. Early this year I decided it would be fun to fully water cool my computer so that is exactly what I did. A full list of my water cooling loop is listed below:

  • Pump: XSPC Laing D5 pump
  • Radiators XSPC EX120 + XSPC EX240
  • Reservoir: Primochill CTR Phase II 120MM for laing D5
  • GPU block: EK Water Blocks EK-FC970 GTX ACX - Nickel
  • CPU block: EK X99 supremacy - Nickel
  • Fans: 3 x Corsair SP 120
  • Fittings: 10 x Alphacool hardtube compression fittings
  • Fluid: Mayhems Berry Blue pastel
  • Pipe: Monsoon PETG 4x500mm

Problems:

  • I ran into a problem when mounting the res, I wanted the whole loop to be visible from the window so I could not mount it in the HDD area. I ended up mounting it horizontally which made it more difficult to fill however turned out well.

  • Mounting the top radiator was also a problem, I had to mount it so one fan is over the HDD area which means that fan has slightly restricted air flow. I also ended up mounting it so only 1 bend would be needed coming out of the CPU.

What went well:

  • Don't be afraid to put a drill near your computer... What I mean by this is, you shouldn't be restricted by your case if you want something somewhere make it fit! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • Hardline bending is nowhere near as hard as it looks, I used NO bending tools I just bent it round a table with a nice bend. I recommend hardline to anyone (even first timers)

Bechmarks: NovaBench at 3.3 Ghz: 2166

NovaBench at 4.0 Ghz: 2410

Unreal engine 4.0 at 4.0 Ghz:

FPS: 54.1

Score: 1362

Min FPS: 29.4

Max FPS: 112.7

I'm a motherfuckin meme maching, without memes I will die. On a serious note, amazing build. Powerful, sexy, and custom loop. I'd recommend getting a HDD that has about 1 terabyte of space or more, because 120gb won't get you very far. Just one minor critisim for an otherwise perfect system. +1

I do indeed have a HDD in it, forgot to add it I'll add it now many thanks

How many dank memes did you have to pay for this Meme Machine?

  • 2 points

420 lenny faces

Or about £1000 translated into casual money

  • 1 point

Wow, how long did it take you to farm those lenny faces? I can only seem to get a few here and there.

eh around 2 months of work during the summer, the person was quite generous with there le Lenny payments. I gathered them reasonably quickly and used some money I got for Christmas to water cool the memer

You definitely should. Worth it just for the looks

  • 1 point

I love it dude. The one thing that I think you might want to improve on would be matching the PSU cables better with the loop and your fans; though I know that's being very picky. You are most likely going to need more storage because that SSD is too small to be by itself. Maybe considering buying a 1TB HDD to go with it. Overall great job man looks beautiful.

  • 2 points

Thanks for the suggestion, I will make sure to colour match my PSU cables better in my next build. Its going to be Yellow and black so if you see any nice bright yellow PSU cables let me know

Oh cool. I don't know your price point on the cables but these are very nice if you are going with yellow and black: http://www.moddiy.com/products/Corsair-AX1200i-Premium-Single-Sleeved-Power-Supply-Modular-Cables-Set-(Black%7B47%7DYellow).html?gclid=CjwKEAjwrOO3BRCX55-L9_WojHoSJAAPxcSP4UQuZEq03ZjzmbIygtc3Ugb1rV7Ng91Sqi255H4-fxoCXrHw_wcB

This machine is perfect! My favorite color loop, awesome case, awesome internals, what else could you ask for?

Also what program do you use for 3D modeling?

  • 1 point

Autodesk 3ds max and Autodesk Maya, I prefer 3ds max for game assets but that's just me. Thanks for the kind words!

Can this handle the dankest of memes?

This is a legitimate question.

How did you pour liquid into your reservoir with it on its side?

  • 1 point

I just rotated my pc so that the reservoir was upwards then filled it

  • 1 point

Oh wow, I was way overcomplicating it then. The reservoir still looks really cool sideways!

  • 1 point

Yeh I think it looks really cool like that on its side!

  • 1 point

Hey! I think I invented placing the res sideways like that in the H440. That bend from the GPU to res is a real killer to get perfect. Luckily my wife got it right.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I have used a long piece of standard tubing with a standard compression fitting to screw into the res. At the end of the tubing, I put a small funnel and fill it little by little. I'll link an example. It also helps if you lift the computer up so the res is a little more up and down, then lower it and let water go down then repeat.

Here's a link to Gatsby's filling process: http://i.imgur.com/QdxNekk.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/MCQPodb.jpg

Check out my build if you have any questions about res or radiator questions!

Love the build and the blue! +1

  • 2 points

Thanks for the info, yes the bend from the res to GPU was by far the most difficult due to how close I had to make the bends. I had a look at your build and it looks amazing! The way I filled my res the whole way up involved 3 people so I will give your method a go when I drain it in September. Many thanks for the feedback! One question, in my next build I will just be doing a cpu loop due to it being itx. Do you think a 240 rad will be enough for just the cpu?

  • 1 point

That's the only thing that's working on my processor. It will work on moderately overclocked systems. I can go 4.8/4.9 with my processor (I got a goooood chip) but temps get up in the 90s of celsius. At 4.6/4.7 it's a pretty stable 50s. The GPU only has that quick little 120 rad that works great.

Short answer: yes.

Also, when you're using my method, you might actually just be able to rotate yours on the face (rock it forward) without any spilling. I'd thread the tube through the extra PCIE slots. When removing the tube, make sure to have a thick wad of paper towels around it for any water inside the tube (unless it's clear and you can see it, mine is black.)

  • 2 points

Thanks, I have the same config on my main rig (240 for the cpu and 120 for the GPU) so I'm going to go for a 240 on the next rig

As for your method that sounds easier than what I was doing before so I will definitely be trying it so I don't need so many people to top up my loop. Another question, how full do you keep your reservoir and why?

  • 1 point

The more full res the usually less air in the system, as air bubbles should deposit in the res while going through your loop. Right now I have just an air bubble that moves around at the top, which shows the pump is on (it'd be hard to tell otherwise). Plus I think it looks better, too.

  • 1 point

Yep I just have a small bubble in mine too, its useful to know its pumping

Joey, you may not know me but, I would like to ask for some help. Please tell me Joey, is this a good build? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HPrZgs

Its a pretty good first build, however you may want to save a little bit more money to get a better GPU maybe a 750TI I have used one before and they are good for the money

Very Nice, one of the best hard pipe tubing jobs I've seen. The reservoir looks really awesome in that position as well. Idk, to me the sleeved cable coming from the Gpu seems a bit out of place and a back plate would make it look even better! +!

  • 1 point

With the cables do you mean colour or placement? Thanks for the nice words about the pipe bending I am quite proud of it and I will defiantly be getting a back plate for it Thanks for the kind words!

What are the benchmarks? Were they scratched on or did someone use a marker?
