Description

Hello, my name is luke I am 16 years of age and this is my first ever PC build. Computers have always been a hobby of mine and I have wanted to build a computer since I was 13. I will use this pc for gaming all the way to photo editing. I have overclocked the CPU to 4.2GHz @ 1.215v not the greatest but I wanted atleast 4.2GHz

Ram and HDD were reused from my old PC, HDD was wiped using dban.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, I will try to respond as soon as possible.

Luke.

EDIT: After running some more intel burn tests I found out that my 4.2GHz@1.215v Blue Screened, after turning up the v to 1.235v it is now stable, still hitting the high 78c. After some thinking I decided to open up my case and have a look at my h100i, everything seemed right, I decided to try tighten the thumb screws a bit more and to my suprise I got about 3 more full turns on each thumb screw! Now when I run Intel Burntest I hit 69c max and at idle, only 26c!!!

This is a really good looking first build. I think the only thing that would have made this better would be a ASUS or MSI 770 to match the black and red theme, but that's just a nit picky personal thing. Bravo on this!

Didn't go for the msi 770 as it uses two 8 pins and I already had a sleeved 6 pin and sleeved 8 pin. The Msi was my first choice :D

EVGA all the way so you can take advantage of the step up program :). Can't beat getting full price (what you paid for the card) 70-80 days after you bought, towards the 780. $180 dollars is what I paid to step up from a 770 to a 780.

1600mhz ram wouldnt hurt your pocket...

The RAM was reused. Either way it's negligible.

GPU WAS A "SC ACX EVGA GTX 770 2GB" NOT THE ONE SPECIFIED ABOVE!

Sorry, no idea why they are flipped :(

It seems to be a common problem, try editing them and make them portrait size. Then save as a JPEG. That fixed my problems.

Uploaded from my ipad, will take some pics on my camera tomorrow and upload then; hopefully they will not flip :P

" I wanted atleast 4.2GHz Ram"

I am confused... I have never seen RAM that speed!

+1 though, congrats on the new build! Enjoy it!

Nice build! One thing I can say is that you can just reformat the drive you don't have to use dban.

  • 1 point

Reformatting would mean keeping the os and anything on it would be retrievable, this was not necessary as I was going to use the os on the ssd and didn't need my data to be retrievable :)

The hard drive would also be a tad faster if I wiped it and not reformatted it.

really? how long did using dban take cause when I used it on a 400 gb HDD almost full it took hours.

1.6tb took 9 hours

reformatting would have just taken seconds.

I didn't need my data to be to be retrievable. Completely wiping it will put it in an almost new state, meaning the hdd will be almost as fast as being brand new.

I spy with my little eye something red and outdated.

Like what... There's nothing in this system that is red and outdated. Nothing is even outdated.

He means the red PS3 in the last picture.

It's a pleasure to work with, a lot lighter than you would think but still feels like good quality. Cable management is great with a ton of space.
