Description

I initially started with the idea of staying conservative on the final price of my build. I am by no means a hardcore gamer. Then I thought 'well this is going to be something that I myself will put together so why not go that extra mile to put in some good parts'. So the final product turned out pretty decent. I have a feeling ill be building more of them throughout the course of my life but this first one is pretty damn good. Im mainly going to be using it casually. Might get into some photo and video editing as well. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I have a few pictures up but more will follow as i move stuff around to my liking.

-Upgraded to Ryzen 5 1600 for the processor -B350 MSI Tomahawk mobo -8GB LPX Corsair memory (adding another 8GB in the near future) -Sapphire Nitro RX 580 8GB -Four new Corsair ML140 case fans in black

Great cooler. A bit overkill for what i am mainly using my system for. I hope to really push my system in the future and do some video editing. With this cooler i dont really have much to worry about. Keeps the cpu at great temps under load. Swapped the fans out with thermaltake led ring fans.

you need to put the gpu on the highest pci slot on the motherboard

agreed. the top pci slot is the fastest (x16 when used in single gpu config and x8 in 2 way sli). could we also get some pics of the back side?

No actually the bottom PCI slot runs at x16 if there is nothing in the top slot. He will see no gains form moving the card.

  • PCI_E4 supports up to PCIe 2.0 x8 speed That's what MSI has to say about the board.

Correct. Newegg's photo of the board says both are x16 slots. Newegg is incorrect.

Seems Newegg has their image incorrect.

Either way an r9 380 will lose ZERO performance form being in an x8 slot.

the top slot on this particular mobo is going to get you better speeds for your video card. whatever bottlenecks you can avoid, its always worth avoiding them.

yea i ended up moving it because i forgot to plug in a usb cable for corsair link. Its in the top slot now

Actually he could leave the gpu where its at. for this mobo, both pcie ports are 2.0x16 so the bandwidth is the same. It depends on the manufacturer and the boards themselves. some ports operate at higher frequencies than others.

Er a power supply should be like 75 dollars and a case 60 or 50 your spending 200 dollars for a psu and a case also that CPU cooler is like overkill unless your overclocking

Anybody know if its possible to crossfire this card? The specs say yes but Im a noob, not sure if crossfire requires a bridge like nvidia cards

Not bad, I would of managed those cables a bit better, and as mentioned already The video card is in an x8 slot when it should be x16. Also the picture isn't very clear but I would double check to make sure you have the ram in the right slots. This is of course assuming there is more than two slots to choose from. You didn't state what PSU you were using but if modular than you definitely could do much better with the cabling and that case.

All and all not bad for a first timer. Most definitely better than the Verge did.

not true at all I have far more in that exact case and 100xs cleaner than this. But as you said not bad for a first build.
