Description

My old gaming rig died so it was time to build a new one and do some upgrades. I based the part list off of one of the monthly setups on mmo-champion and made only minor modifications to the suggested build. I also cannibalized a 120mm chassis fan, 2x750GB HDD's and a SATA DVD/RW drive from my old rig. The HDD's I mirrored and will use to save all of my stuff on as I only plan to put my OS and games on the SSD.

The build went slow but fairly well. The only problem I ran in to (other then my terrible cable management skills) was with the Frio. First of all, the thing is massive. I had read reviews that said this and saw photos that put it in perspective but was not prepared for how big it actually was when I opened the box. The second 120mm fan that comes with it is not pre-installed and is a serious pain to get on. You have to wedge rubber soft mounts in to the frame around the heat sink which is a difficult task. I had to use the bracket for the back of the motherboard to shove them in. You then have to pull them through the fan and I had to pull so hard I thought I was going to rip them. Finally the mounting brackets were mislabeled which gave me a mild heart attack when I tried to mount it and thought that it wasn't going to fit (it doesn't actually say it fits a 1150 socket but its the same as the 1156 so I figured it would work). Luckily I found the right mounts in one of the other bags and was able to proceed.

Everything else went great and I can't wait to get her loaded up and start kicking some ***.

If you could put up temps that would be great. I want to see what that cooler can do!

Lovely, well balanced build. Acceptable cable management, always will love that case. Nice to include a quality SSD for the price of the complete system. You'll have to tell me how that 760 performs in-game!

Very nice PC! How do you like the MSI GTX 760? Me? I love it! Bye!

For those asking the 760 has been rock solid. I just loaded Batman: Arkim Origins last night and it looks amazing as does everything else I've played. My old GPU was an EVGA and I think I'm liking this MSI better because I feel better about it's cooling. It has two fans and is somewhat open where as my EVGA was almost completely enclosed save for the fan exhaust. I'm sure thermodynamic engineers have this stuff figured out way better then I do but it makes me feel better thinking that more airflow is making its way through the card.
