This is far from my first build but is definitely my most expensive. I was in need of a major upgrade and am now using my computer at home as a part time work station. I needed a machine that could push heavy VR use and go part time on AutoCAD and CADWorx without any slow down. I regularly work in busy Compressor Stations and Oil platforms. For the VR I mostly game on Elite Dangerous VR and want to push the UMD up for a cleaner image. It is a tremendous benefit to be able to play all titles at max graphics and even experiment with Ray Tracing a little on Battlefield 5.
The most unique part was the case and this was chosen so that I could wall mount it and get it out of the reach of those who should not have access to it. For workstation / gaming and VR use, I know i could have probbly gotten a little more by going X299 but I was not ready to make that leap and the 9900K seems like a good balance for my use. The power supply is admittedly overpowered for this system but I wanted as much idle fan speed as possible and it gives me the head room to go SLi in the future. I debated going custom loop cooling but decided against it both because of price and dependibility. I am aware that Custom loops CAN be very reliable, but to novice as myself, I was not comfortable taking a chance on such a high priced rig. So the Kraken X72, I know that going 360mm vs 240mm on an AIO does not see any real advantage, this was done for cosmetics as you can see in the images.
I am running at a 5.2 using Asus AI Overclock with about 26c idle and 52c under load. The GPU is a different story as I try not to overclock my GPUs so its pretty much running with out of the box OC.
Overall I am happy with the build as it seems stable and is extremely fast for all my required tasks.
