Description

AMD personal gaming rig. A slight upgrade from the Mark IV, with the upgrade from an ASRock 970 Extreme3 to an ASRock 990FX Fatal1ty Killer motherboard.

My Antec Khuler is on a modified push-pull. It is mounted to the top of the case, with a 140mm fan pushing and a 200mm fan pulling. I have only seen my CPU cross 40*C once, and that is when my system hiccuped with an update while playing.

I run my XFX RX 470 to my Vizio E43U-D2, running 1440p @60Hz with a DVI-HDMI to my Yamaha RX V373 for full surround.

I use this build for gaming. In games like Diablo 3, Everquest 2, Guild Wars, and Star Trek Online I get superb performance. Guild Wars 2 is the only exception, as many with AMD systems find. I do get up to 60fps roaming PVE, about 30-40 in WvW & PVP, but the massive zergfests I drop to <10fps. But as I said, such is the case with all AMD builds at the moment.

Update 2 Feb 2017

I've found that drivers 16.7.3 or 16.11.4 are the most stable for my setup.

Update 3 May 2017

Next week this build will be retired. My Ryzen upgrades are on the way.

The orginal GPU in the pic was my R9 270x which I replaced with the RX 470 RS from Best Buy.
