For the money, I really like this build. My one and only gripe is that you bought a GTX 660ti instead of an AMD 7950. An overclocked 7950 (1.1+ GHz) can be better than an overclocked 680 in some instances! Also, you probably should've spent less on the mouse and keyboard and gotten a Hyper 212 EVO for $10 more.

I completely agree with you about your gripe on choosing a 660 Ti because for its price range it is a completely horrible card even more so for BF3. Heck I most definitely would have recommended a 7870 Ghz Edition or 7950 over the memory bandwidth limited 660 ti. There has been very rare, extremely rare instances for a 7950 at extremely high overclocks to come near 670 / 680 performances. Just sayin :P But non the less it would have been a far, FAR better choice than a 660 Ti. I really hate the day Nvidia designed that card and even more so that big youtubers promote it knowing its limitations and mis guiding buyers...

Biggest thing that caught my eye, builder spent more on storage than performance / GPU...

Yeah that was a big thing to me too and should have mentioned it in my 1st comment. He could have gotten a WD Black 1TB for $80 or even if he wanted to a 2Tb for around $130. With that $200 saved he could have gotten a 770.

Yes or even a WD Blue 1TB which is the same speed as the black for $60, only difference being the warranty. ;)

Exactly! I have a WD Blue in the system I'm building and that was the main reason I went with the Blue.

true but performance wise there is no noticeable difference, the only differences are on paper and warranty. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/storage/display/500gb-hdd-roundup_6.html#sect0

You really could have got a much better build for this price.

I know. I didn't know about this site when I built it.

the point was to have a 500GB ssd, the only thing i would change is the gpu to a 7950 but that doesnt matter

Storage should never take priority over GPU in a gaming build IMO.

Great build man, you should have no problem with bf3, OR bf4!!

Though everyone I know who are using a 660 ti in BF4 beta are complaining about stuttering, hopefully that is fixed before launch.

I have a friend using it and he just updated the video driver to the 321 driver.

I'm using 680s in SLI with the latest drivers and I seem to get stutter in BF4 and have never had stutter in any other game

  • 1 point

Maybe it is because they are in SLI? (The game is not yet ready to fully support SLI, and the drivers by NVIDIA aren't ready for BF4). But honestly, I really couldn't tell you why THAT much power isn't giving you good quality.

I tried disabling SLI but it didn't help much, I'm wondering if it's just server lag

Everything looks good except two things:

Would have gone EVO instead of plus.

Would have gone 7950/760/280X over that 600Ti.

The rest looks good! btw why such a big ssd?

I only wanted one Hard drive so I went with SSD. It was a good deal at the time for a 500gb ssd. I agree, a better graphics card is a must. I sucked on that one.

I know what you mean about the case!!! I got mine in the mail last week (same one I think) and I just about **** my pants. Lulz, I'm trying to figure out where I am going to put it now...it's a beastly monster of a case...<3 Starlana

Exactly. It barely fits under my desk off the floor but its not practical with the top usb ports and headphone jack. It sits next to the desk now.

If it were me, i would have gotten a 256 or 128gb SSD, gotten a cheap HDD and upgraded the GPU, but thats just me. That samsung 840 is amazing though eh?

I wanted to stick with one HD so I went a lil expensive. I should've gotten a smaller one for sure though. Samsung is awesome!
