I guess this is a rather high-end build, with the peripherals alone making up half the cost. I actually assembled this machine months ago, but I'm just deciding to share it now.
Bought an extra Noctua NF-A15 PWM fan so the CPU cooler would be symmetrical lol. Extremely quiet cooler, inaudible inside the case.
Spent about $25 more than necessary per 2x4 GB RAM kit because I wanted the lights. Lol.
The Crucial SSD was an addition made to accommodate my Steam library.
Had a 780 Ti stepped up to a 980 courtesy of EVGA.
Switched from an NZXT H440 to the Define R5 recently, and I like the R5 a lot more because: there is much more cable management space behind the motherboard; no PSU shroud makes the cables far more easily managed; quieter (for me) because I haven't added any additional case fans; while the built-in fan controller only accepts three fans, you can adjust their speed; and it's SATA powered instead of molex; hinged front panel; the latch on the side panel is the next best thing after a hinged side panel.
The two custom length PCIe cables are only 30cm long, so I don't need to shove them behind the motherboard tray. That alone makes cable management in the rear much easier.
The 980 is enough to power many games at 120+ FPS at 1440p. At idle, the PSU and GPU fans don't spin and the case fans can be left on low RPM so it is extremely quiet.
I think I'm prouder of the custom desk I assembled from IKEA parts and the LED strips behind the monitor than I am of the computer haha.
Was watching an ocean documentary when taking the pictures, hence anglerfish!
