Hey y'all. I've been a laptop user my whole life, but now that I have a new apartment and a steady job, I'd like to switch to a desktop. I'm looking for a machine with the graphics and sound capability to handle decently-demanding games at reasonable (that is, not the super-high level, but nice and pretty) settings, as well as the RAM and graphics memory to cope with long sessions of either gaming of video editing. I'm not super concerned about noise, but heat is a worry simply because it killed my last laptop. I'm new to PC building, but will be enlisting a family member who is fairly experienced in it to help with the actual construction. Any advice or parts suggestions would be great!
