$1500 AUD "My first gaming PC"

ktay95

Budget: $1500

Location: Australia

Use: Gaming

Peripherals required: None

Operating System required: Windows 10

Preferably an Nvidia GPU.

Looking to build in one of a few cases:

  • Corsair Air 240 (currently my fave design)

  • Corsair 380t

  • BitFenix Prodigy M

  • Silverstone Sugo Series SG13

Color Scheme: Main color of White (or Black if case doesn't come in white) with secondary of Purple would be my first choice but Blue is a solid replacement.

Thanks for any help and sorry for being so demanding and picky :P

If you compromise on aesthetics you could get performance.. Atleast this is what I would do..

I hope u don't mind my not taking ur preferences into account, b'cos atleast for me what we think we want & what we REALLY wanted after the fact, turn out quite different..

The DDR4 skylake i5-6400 is better than the DDR3 Haswell i5-4460 by a long margin in all benchmarks including Gaming:

http://ark.intel.com/compare/80817,88185

See the official intel comparison above, be sure to check the 21.3 GB/s vs 34.1 GB/s Memory bandwidth (Skylake vs Haswell), 8 GT/s (Giga Transfers per sec) for the skylake vs 5 GT/s for Haswell, 14nm Manuf vs 22 nm..

Infact CPU.USERBENCHMARK.COM ranks the DDR4 i5-6400 17% faster than the DDR3 i5-4460

The i5-6400 is ranked 22nd ( Desktop 86%, Gaming 84%, Workstation 48% )

The i5-4460 is ranked 90th ( Desktop 73%, Gaming 72%, Workstation 41% )

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-6400-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4460/m35537vs2310

A very upgradeable build all the way to an i7-6700 WITH a 10-cpu power phase, Crossfire capable H170 board.. not to mention one of the Budget-friendly Killer cases with a beautiful side panel out there..

Build: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/pftnf7

So this build is based around the Air 240 (White) which is a great case becuase I have got the exact same one. I would recommend this build over SCDAS141's build which ill explain down bellow.

CPU: Higher clock speed than the i5-6400, which would benefit a bit i games and overall performance

CPU Cooler: Will keep the cpu cool and this fits in the case so yeah

Motherboard: Great board for the price, mATX as well

Memory: 8GB is enough for gaming and the sticks are white so even better

Storage: Added a SSD to give you faster loading times and boot times, and also a 1TB drive for all the storage space for game files

Video Card: GTX 970 is still perfect for 1080p/1440p gaming, great price as well

Case: Added this because it is one case you requested, its white as well and looks so good omg

PSU: Enough power too run the 970, semi-modular which is the best for this case, I have got a semi-modular PSU in this case and it makes cable management so much better

Operating System: As you requested

I hope this helps you out
