I used the Media Creation tool on my flash drive for windows 10. If I use this on my build (coming in a couple days) will I be able to use it as a trial version for Windows 10? I'd have to wait until my next paycheck to buy the OS clean.

For a Windows 10 Trial version (basically an unlicensed version) I think you have 48 until you have to activate it.

Can't you get the full version of windows 10 free? I don't understand why you'd get a trial.

Presumably since it's a new build he doesn't have a copy of Windows 7/8/8.1 to utilise for the free upgrade. If he can't use the upgrade path he will need to eventually pay if he wants to use a legitimate copy of Windows 10.

You can use Windows 10 Enterprise for 3 months but once you purchase your retail Windows 10, you will need to wipe your drive and clean install.
