Any other opinions guys before I start to purchase items?

I have asked a few other places and still torn between x99 or z170.

I went to a local shop just to see other input and he was recommending the x99 platform. He was saying that it would be a lot better for the uses but I haven't really looked into it much. Would it actually be better? Or is it better to go with z170 and spend the extra on a better graphics card? Also forgot to include i wanted to upgrade to a dual sli setup later on.

The i7 6700k is slightly better than a 2011-3 socket CPU such as 5930K. Heres the proof: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-5930K I included the 750W PSU,instead of a 550W, in case you ever did want to SLI the 980.

cpuboss is garbage. It's an advertisement search-and-bait-site. It is not a legitimate hardware review or information source.

For workloads that scale to many-threads, like music and video editing, the 5820K is going to perform better than the 6700K.
