$1000 Budget PC Build

LavontaeM

I need help. I'm a first time builder and I want to play AAA games such as Fallout 4, Skyrim, and GTA on low to high settings. I'm on $1000 budget and I prefer I5 to I7, also a great graphics card.

you do not need 16gb of memory, i would recommend 8gb

16GB will be the standard for a gaming machine within the life of this machine. It makes no sense to start this off with 8GB with this sort of budget to work with. That basically ensures it will need a memory upgrade at some point along the way, which comes with the choice of either introducing unmatched memory (because by the time that happens DDR4 will be on new fab and have different characteristics), or ditch the memory installed and choose a destructive upgrade path later on.

In fact, to even make use of a GPU with 8GB of VRAM, is going to require a system with MORE than 8GB of RAM to begin with.

With that CPU, you would need a Z97 mobo. That is if you plan to Overclock, if not, then get the locked version of the CPU and save a few $$ and you wouldn't need a liquid cooler so you'd save a love more and put it towards better hardware or peripherals, even an OS if need be. Otherwise, good build.
