unless this build is for some heavily threaded worloads, I suggest the i5, a better motherboard and maybe a better psu like one of the G2 units.

What's threading worloads? Sorry I'm not hardware savvy. Edit: If it makes any difference I won't be overclocking, it will be mainly for everyday use like school, gaming, music production, etc.

nothing you're doing. more memory would help better than extra cpu threads. I've used FL studio and similar programs before when my friend was working at premier digital studio. his 6GB of ram got eaten up fast and was a hang-up. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WfLX6h
