Non-gaming PC for my brother!

JakAttack

My brother wants to get a desktop PC for his new house. He is not planning on doing any gaming anytime in the near future. Maybe in a few months I will be able to convince him to get a graphics card so he can join me in playing some games. For now I want to just get the best, most up to date parts for him at around $600, and who knows, maybe there are some nice cyber monday deals going on right now.

His only specifications are that it is a plain, quiet case, and as he does not have very much room at all in his new SF apartment, it can't be a monster of a case.

This will have to include a monitor, but mouse and keyboard will be taken care of.

Thanks in advance!!!

RAM is above voltage spec requirements for skylake and may damage the processor long-term.

I saw that he needed a small case so I wanted to take a crack at a mini-itx build.

This will perform pretty well for him, but I'm assuming he's just going to be using this for web browsing and other low key stuff. The 300W psu can support something like the 750ti if you can convince him to buy a GPU in the future. Wasn't sure how much storage he would need, but if he needs more than the 500GB SSD, I would recommend just getting a smaller SSD and a hard drive, it would be cheaper as well. I went with the SSD because I feel like that makes the biggest difference for non-gamers. Being able to boot up in 9 seconds is awesome. Also, the mobo has built-in wifi.
