Windows 7 Transfer

Hey there,

I have a hard drive from an old machine that is no longer is use. It originally had XP installed on it, but when I was in college I used an Upgrade disc that I purchased from my university's tech store to upgrade to 7. I'd like to transfer this over to a machine I'm in the process of building. I think in theory this should be doable, however I no longer have the upgrade disc I used to bump to 7 (I do have the original XP disc laying around tho).

  1. Is is possible to transfer this version of 7 to a new computer.
  2. What would be my steps in tracking down the serial/installer?

Thanks y'all.
