Help updating a compact PC

Hello guys, I’m asking your help to update my Dad’s Lenovo H320 40411JU. He no longer needs it and I was wondering if it’s possible to get some umph out of this thing for around $100. Any help or opinions would be appreciated, maybe it’s not even worth putting extra money into it but that’s why I am asking. I would be doing some light gaming and on programs like Excel and Quickbooks for work. Thanks for the time and help!

Comes with the following:

Intel® Core™ i3-550 Dual Core processor Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64 bit Intel® Integrated HD graphics 4GB DDR3 memory, 1TB HDD storage 7-in-1 card reader, Front-mounted USB2.0 connectors for easy access Integrated DVD drive

Not with that 180W PSU.

If it was any larger, I'd suggest an upgrade to a 750 TI, but that PSU is too weak even for that.

You'll need a new Power supply before you get anything else and with that case's wacky form factor, it also means you'll need a new case.

This MIGHT work with the existing case.

This is your best card option once you do. After that you might want to look into a beefier processor (with a better low profile cooler) which you can get off Ebay for a good price (i5s for 50 bucks) and some ram if you have free ram slots.

This will be my build in about a month or two... I just need something in the mean time i wont bang my head on. And I'm okay with spending $100 for that, the big build will be paid for by my job.

I just think its a bad a** cooler, I'm pretty sure realistically I wouldn't need one that powerful. But I was under the assumption in general AMD's are a little slower but a fraction of the cost, are you saying that's not the case?

Wow that's ridiculous, I'll definitely have to look into this more. Intel's are generally better for gaming correct? I couldn't understand too much from the comparison, some of it was beyond my knowledge.

that computer has a 180 watts PSU, its not a good idea to even think on getting a GPU without changing the PSU..

Still has the overriding issue of a microscopic power supply. It doesn't have the native wattage to power even a 750 Ti

Also, his computer case wouldn't fit that card.

He needs a half height.

lol, so you guys think if I'm going to make it work it'll take more than$100. I'd need a bigger case, PSU, GPU, more Ram? Thanks for helping!

you think the r7 and ram upgrade wont surpass the 180W PSU? Any idea if this case will be sufficient or a bigger one will be needed? Thank you for the help!
