COMPLETELY NEW TO PC BUILDING FOR GAMING PURPOSES!!!

Hello, I'm completely new to PC building and would like to get some information on different parts I need and what to do with them.

Budget: $500

Location: New Jersey, USA

Use (Gaming, Rendering, etc): Gaming

Peripherals required (monitor, keyboard/mouse, etc): none

Operating System required: Windows 7

I'm looking for a build under $500 dollars that can run TF2 in 150+ FPS. Is this possible for my budget? I'm really looking to play TF2 and other games at medium graphics settings for 150+ FPS.

If this isn't possible for under $500. What would the minimum price look like for a 150+ FPS TF2 running pc?

I understand you are new but a 144hz monitor is going to cost you around $250 for a cheap one. That eats half of your budget. Which then the other $250 left could not be used on a PC to get more than 150 FPS in any game.

Thank you. I already have a 60hz monitor from vizio. Had no idea the expense of a 144hz one.

Depends on the game. If your budget can be expanded then high

I can't go much higher than this, so I'll have to stick to low graphics for a $500 Gaming PC to run 60+ FPS.

200+ FPS is unnessecary. 60FPS is the nice awesome stable point, why need so high? You cannot even see it with your eye, neither your monitor will support it, probably.

My Current PC is very unstable and can run 131 fps with hideous graphics and isn't smooth at all. I also look to play other games that require more work from my PC such as GTA .

Ofcourse it's not smooth, your screen is probably stuttering from the FPS! Your monitor probably does not support 131FPS being shown and that can cause tearing and stuttering..

I have a 60hz monitor so this is why I'm stuttering

Could be the reason, yeah..

Should I try capping my fps at 60 for better results?
