Planning the build below - thinking a non-stock cooler will be a better idea to keep noise to a minimum - any suggestions??

you can fit about any air cooler in that case.. up to 185mm. This is a nice cooler with great performance and its only 125mm.

that is a lot of money to pay for a PSU when the EVGA G2 650 cost about 67 bucks. You are overpaying. This are great choices

Thanks!

Really keen to have a modular PSU - but you're right was really overpaying for that seasonic! Think i'll opt for the EVGA 550:

Just been reading through that! Looks good to me - thanks for your help!

With the cpu cooler - is there anything else worth looking at? again, happy to pay a little more if its worth it!

the m9i just seems to be a small heatsink using steroids.. lol

You're getting an amazing cooler for that price.. It even is on par with the cooler master evo 212 which is way taller, and i still can believe it can beat it.

Does impressively for its size for sure!

My main concern really is noise. My assumption is that a non-stock cooler will be better (i.e. quieter) than the stock fan that the i3 comes with?

Stock cooler, you cant overclock with an i3. Wasting the extra money for no performance upgrade would be pointless. the only reason i to make it more quiet, and that route i would go look at bequite or coolermaster.
