Is it safe to use passive cooler in a H440 with stock fans in it? Kinda wanna cut down on the noise
you can, but its only advisable in low tdp applications... an i3/5/7 or Pentium is typically not the best idea for this, but a Celeron or a very low tdp chip might be ideal. The heatsink used also matters a lot.
Instead, go with a large air cooler using ultra low noise fans...
Which CPU will you be using?
i5 6500. want to do the non K BCLK OC trick too
You would need at least stock cooling. However the stock cooler can get fairly noisy under load, I would invest in a cheaper aftermarket cooler like a Cryorig H7.
Not worried about price, just was wondering if no fan cooling was an option. Looking at this to match my build.
that should work fine.
yeah i was just seeing if fanless cooling was an option.
find a cooler that's intentionally built for passive use, and see how many watts of thermal dissipation it's rated for. If it's more than the TDP of your CPU, it'll work. I'd be careful, though. The H440 is known for having mediocre airflow at best.
I have the newer version. everything is ice cold even on load at max settings 60fps
and dat window tho
