Just signed up to hopefully get some help. I am looking to upgrade to get a little more power for 3D rendering (Cinema 4D). Below are some of the current specs of my computer. I am currently just looking to upgrade the CPU, motherboard and of course the RAM. I want to stay under or around $280 (I know not much to work with but I am about to graduate college and need to update my computer as much as I can) I assume I will have to stick with a AMD CPU or a i5 Intel which is fine, I just want to make sure the upgrade will last me a few years if possible. Also Overclocking isn't a big deal for me.

Current Setup Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) X4 750K Quad Core Processor (3.4GHz) Motherboard: MSI A55M-E33 FM2+ / FM2 AMD A55 (Hudson D2) HDMI Micro ATX AMD Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 (Not Important - Include just incase) Memory : 16GB (Not Important on brand)

I have been reading a lot on PC Part Picker along with cpuboss and a few other places and from what I gathered: Here is a AMD build I found but am not sure about it because the CPU is from 2012 and a few have spoken on how FX series is dead.

Possible AMD Setup ($269.96) Processor: AMD FX-8320 Vishera 8-Core 3.5 GHz (4.0 GHz Turbo) Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 6.0) AM3+ AMD 760G + SB710 USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Memory : 2x G.SKILL Value 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Over Budget Intel Setup ($335) Processor: Intel Core i5-6500 6M Skylake Quad-Core 3.2 GHz LGA 1151 65W BX80662I56500 Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 530 Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-H110M-A (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 Intel H110 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Memory : 2x CORSAIR ValueSelect 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000)

So I need a CPU, Motherboard and the ram. Thank you all for the help in advance!

Personally I think your problem is your graphics card: You should either get a GTX 750 Ti(http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-02gp43753kr) or if you have enough money a GTX 950(http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-02gp42956kr). You don't necessarily have to upgrade anything else. If you are actually using a GT 610, the 750 Ti is 10x better

Anyway, here is my recommended upgrades(a bit overbudget because of the GPU): PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Type Item Price
CPU AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor $70.99 @ NCIX US
CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler $24.88 @ OutletPC
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard $58.89 @ OutletPC
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory $35.99 @ Newegg
Video Card EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Superclocked Video Card $112.99 @ NCIX US
Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts
Total (before mail-in rebates) $328.74
Mail-in rebates -$25.00
Total $303.74

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=1801&cmp[]=2362&cmp[]=1781 -Shows my current CPU, plus the 860K and the FX 6300.

As well the 860K only gets around 350 for multi-core on Cinebench while my CPU (X4 750k) got around 320. If I got the FX-8320 that got around 800 almost triple the score. With the Intel Skylake that scored around 680 but the skylake would also future proof my computer more because I could easily upgrade from a i5 to a i7 without changing motherboard.

Also Cinema 4D doesn't use the GPU for rendering but I suppose it would help a bit with the graphics load. I just hate the thought of spending $70 on just a small upgrade. But by all means I am not up-to-date with what is used and what isn't. I do like yours because it basically builds me a new system.

Sorry I am just trying to get the best bang for buck. But thank you for the upgrade - I will take it into consideration
